GM mode + other questions

I was wondering what is the difference between GM mode and just getting the AI to set line-ups, depth charts and pitching roster?

In addition, is it possible to get the AI to set lineups and depth charts but still remain in control of the pitching roster?

Also, is it possible to force the AI to pick certain players if it is control of lineups etc.?

Have more questions, but that is enough to start with

1. Nothing really. It just formalizes it, sort of.

2. Not in GM mode. You can play normally, let the AI pick lineups/depth charts, and set the pitching staff yourself.

3. There is a "force start" option on the player strategy page, I understand. I have never personally used it though.

I use this all the time in the minors. It work great for me. I am assuming it is just as effective at the MLB level.

It's particularly necessary when the AI wants to play anybody but a SS at SS.

I use force start when i want the veteran minor leaguer to play over the guy that just got called up from one level lower. Or When I want a guy to learn SS and have the SS learn 3B.
