Stats only set up

I want to try a stats only set up fictional league and I need some help. Under global setup do I turn off the complete scouting system and then put None displayed for the ratings scale?

Need some help!!

Use none for ratings scale. It's up to you if you want to play with scouting or not.

Thanks for the help I think I got it set up. It's a little more in depth playing this way but more challenging. Takes more time to sort through the draft.

I'd recommend leaving scouting on, personally. That way you don't know if the written scouting report is completely accurate or not.

Research question for you stats only guys: do you find contracts correlate appropriately with performance? Is the AI rightly recognizing the increased weight of stats in its financial decisions? Do the players recognize their sub-standard stats or do those types of players still demand high performance salaries?

Are you guys saying that I could by-pass the OOTP ratings (power, control etc) and just have it set things up based on the players actual real life stats in a historical replay?

If so, for me that would be excellent. I've played stat games for over 50 years and always just looked at stats except for running, arms, hold etc. Doing OOTP with just stats would be a nice change.

Yes, you can set it up so that no ratings are visible.

Thanks fellas for this thread. I just installed the 1982 season without the power etc ratings. Looks great for someone that isn't used to having that through the years with other sim games.

Seems like every week or so I'm learning new key stuff about the versatility of this great game.

Thanks again for the info.

I want to clarify. When you set ratings to "None" (or "off", or whatever), you are not bypassing those ratings. The ratings still determine the outcomes on the field. What turning the ratings off does is that it keeps the player from knowing if a player is doing well or poorly due to ratings or due to good/bad luck. Increases the "fog of war", if you will.

I think I get that. Not sure. At any rate, for me I just like to see the stats.

Would be nice someday to be able to control what lines show up in the expanded stat box. I would only have 3 or 4 instead of 10 or 12. : )

Not good for these old eyes. Sorry if I took the thread off base.

I think the AI still has a little ways to go before it has the financial decisions down pat. I have seen some arbitration cases where the player will have a down year and still demand over twice his salary in arbitration and get it. I have also offered some extensions to players who had down years and they want over $10 million a year even though they hit .220 with only 15 HRs. I realize that, with arbitration, the players almost never get less than they made the previous season even though their stats were worse than the previous season. But, I would think that a bit more improvement can be made in this area. Maybe some sort of formula that compares the salaries of players with comparable stats and let the AI make a "judgement" based on that? Or compare those stats to a sliding scale that can be based on the league setup's estimation of superstar qualilty salaries, star quality salaries, etc.?
