European Baseball Quickstart

So, as you all know, I made a whole boatload of European uniforms. When I was testing them out, I found myself setting up leagues. Then I found myself creating schedules. Then I started playing with League Associations. This is the semi-fictional result.

16 countries, 37 leagues, 365 teams.

What's real?

Logos, uniforms, schedules*, playoff structures**, park names, park coordinates.

What's fictional?

Rosters, roster rules, financials***, park dimensions and factors.

At the end of the regular season(s), which start as early as February, the 16 league champions square off in a single-elimination tournament

* - The schedules for Hungary and Croatia are fictional, or at least partly so, as I wasn't able to find the actual schdules online. Everybody else should be accurate, or at least reasonably so. You'll see mostly weekend games, and lots of doubleheaders.

** - League playoffs are as realistic as OOTP will allow, and are accurate as far as I can find. A few leagues have a somewhat split season where the top X clubs have a round robin tournament to determine the final playoff spots, and OOTP just can't do that. Additionally, most of the leagues feature a "playdown" series between the 2-4 lowest finishers in the top tier, with the playdown loser having to win a Relegation Series against the second tier champion in order to stay in the top tier. Obviously, OOTP doesn't model these scenarios, although you could manually schedule these sorts of things if you're ambitious.

*** - While some financials surely exist, details on them and how they operate are so hard to come by that trying to emulate them would be pretty much impossible, so I'm not even going to bother. Financials are turned off for all leagues. Go ahead and turn them on if you want.

If you want to play with it, feel free. Leave me whatever feedback you may have, and I may fix things I missed. Have fun!

This is amazing! Really appreciate the time it must have taken for you to build this.

How would I put financials into the leagues? Just go through each of them and put them in manually? and if I want say UK with no finances but Germany with some.. would the UK teams just be able to sign any body they want at will from the FA list still?

In theory, you can just turn them on and adjust them at will for each league. I'm not sure how it'll work if some leagues have finances on and some don't, though. It's another part of the reason I left finances off for everybody.

I noticed that I had missed setting up playoff structures for a few of the leagues, notably Germany and Switzerland. I have updated the quickstart, but I'm having troubles uploading it from home for some reason. I should be able to get the fixed version uploaded on Monday.

Glad you noticed that, it would have been disappointing to get to the end of the season and find it all went tits up

Shame for my bludgeoning European Leagues that will have to re-start just as opening day had swept round Europe, the most remarkable results being those of Tenerife who won both of their opening double header games against Sant Boi 1-0 with walk-off runs in the bottom of the ninth !

Well, you don't have to restart anything, just set up custom playoffs in the leagues that need them. I think you can do that up until the end of the regular season. The only two that are critical are Switzerland and Germany.

Of the leagues I overlooked: the top 4 teams in Switzerland make the playoffs. The first round is best-of-3, and the final round is best-of-5.

Germany's more complex. I'll attach a screenshot of their structure so you can easily adjust.

Other leagues that don't have custom playoffs are pretty much always the top 2 teams in a 3 or 5 game series.

I've also updated the first post with a fixed Quickstart.

Downloaded. Thanks. Looks like a lot. Does the schedule work for progressive seasons?

Yes, the schedule format will persist from year to year.

Quick question.
Is there anyway of starting in a different year?
I have a quite ambitious idea and using your quickstart would definitely help.
I was just hoping to be able to use a start year different from 2012.
