Adjust League totals monthly?

Just wondering if anyone has adjusted their league totals on a monthly basis. I was reviewing the 1983 ML batting totals at Retrosheet.org and noticed the totals by month. Well, this got me thinking (which is never a good thing) and I quickly gathered month by month totals for 1979-1986 (I chose these seasons because they most mimic the league totals I like to use).

The AB are the actual total at-bats for 1979-1986. The other numbers are the actual totals compared to the total for all months for all years. Generally, the deviations are negligible.

Regardless, I'll most likely incorporate monthly effects in my next league.

While not shown above, I was surprised to see that September was the month with not only the most stolen bases (4%+ higher than the monthly average), but also the highest stolen base %, 68.7. The next highest % in any other month was 66.9% in both June and July.

I'd be interested to hear if anyone else has made monthly league totals adjustments and, if so, what effects (if any) you saw.

September is the month of the minor league call ups, in which small role players such as speedsters (recent example being Chone Figgins of the Angels, or however you spell his name) are brought up, so that may help the steal numbers.

don't forget about those players on bad teams looking to make their incentive clauses in their contracts....
