Rehab...does it help?
Is it necessary after, say, a six week injury? Or is it just useful for clearing roster space? Thanks.

Once again not a studied subject but, it was stated by Markus that it is useful for knocking off the "rust" that accumulates over that DL stay.
In game yes it can help to send a guy on rehab while you waive the AAAA player to get them back to the minors.

What I usually do (and I have no idea if it's the most efficient way to do things) is that...
position players are on rehab until they have two good games back to back (i.e 2-3, 3-5, 2-4, 1-3 HR 2 RBI) relievers are on rehab until they have two good outings back to back (i.e 1 IP 0 H 1K, 1 IP 1 H 2K) Starters are on rehab until two good starts back to back (6 IP 5 H 2K, 5 IP 5 H 1BB 3 K) I mean, if they suck in AAA after an injury, sucking on the major club isn't really going to help me out. Only times I consider skipping rehab is if I am in a tight pennant race toward the end of the season or in the play-offs. |

IMO I only use rehab assignments for guys on the 60 Day DL coming back who are injured 2 plus months etc. Any guy injured less than that seems to be fine coming back.
I have seen some guys take ratings hits when doing rehab assignments so I'm very cautious about using it. |

Ratings hits?! Really!? Ugh, that kinda sucks for players like me who play without ratings.
Are we sure the rehab assignment caused the rating hit and not the injury itself? |

I would think it would be the injury itself after your scout gets to see him in action after coming off the DL.

Until I hear from authority that rehab can't do that it's minimum rehab for me.
