What Would You Do? (Trade Question)

Hey guys, long time lurker and first time poster here. I was wondering if I could get some advice for this trade. Here it is:

I'd be sending CF Elier Hernandez and 2B Ricardo Garcia to Baltimore for C Matt Wieters and SP Brian Matusz.

Here's CF Elier Hernandez. He's 17 years old, in R league, and he's 6'3" 185 lbs.

2B Ricardo Garcia, my second round pick in this years draft: 22 Years Old, A League, 6'0" and 225 lbs

Here's the main guy I'm after, C Matt Wieters. Awesome defense and acceptable offense. He's 26 years old, ML, and he's 6'5" 230 lbs

And last but not least, SP Brian Matusz. He's 25, 6'5" and 200 lbs.

This is my current catcher, who I was originally wanting to replace with a solid defender.

He's 24, 6'0" and 180 lbs.

My question is this: Would you guys do this trade? Is it worth it? I'd essentially be giving up a 2nd round pick and a decent outfield prospect for an elite defensive catcher and a pitcher who looks like he could do some amazing things.

Well there needs to be a few more things, how is your rotatio , how are your finances, what are the new guys contracts like (I'm guessing bigger than the rookies), how are their stats. In terms of ability I'd do it. But if I see myself being in financial trouble in a year because of it I'd be a lot more wary. also their stats might not be very good which would turn me off too possibly.

I would also need to know more things. Is it the offseason, or are you approaching the trade deadline? If the season is starting, are you in contention? If it's the offseason, do you think this trade puts you among the favorites to win the world series next season? Basically if you think making this trade gives you a good chance to win the world series in the next year or two, I would pull the trigger. If this trade just puts you in the middle of the pack, I wouldn't do it. I'm very hesitant to trade my prospects unless I think doing so is going to win me the world series.

Sorry about that, I forgot to post my current Catcher's stats. Here they are:

As for the contracts of each player, both of the players I'd send over have minor league contracts. The Catcher I'm trading for has a salary of $480,000 and the pitcher has a salary of $650,000. I currently have about $5,969,697 worth of budget room.

It's currently the regular season, I'm 62-21 in 1st place in the AL (with the Yankees pretty close to me), and pretty much have the AL West on lock.

Probably not worth replacing your catcher hitting .370 with a .980 OPS. So Wieters looks like a bench bat for you if you do that deal. But Matusz has stud ratings, but his performance has been crap.

I'd do the deal, since odds are at least one of your 2 rookies won't pan out, and neither is really looking like a superstar yet (either on stats or potential ratings).

I'd do it, your catcher can even play left if need be so i'd do it for sure.
Brian Matusz is the key but overall it's a good deal

Baltimore should be asking for more. Alot more.

Lopsided steal of a trade for you. Basically armed robbery of the AI IMO.

With that said, understand that you will improve defensively but maybe not offensively behind the plate. But moving Matusz to Seattle out of Baltimore is going to help him so much. That 56% GB/FB rate is hurting him in Camden Yards.

Awful trade by the AI there. Out of interest what level is your trading difficulty set too?

Why would Baltimore agree to such a trade? They are giving 2 young players for 2 younger players. It just seems like the AI is making a bad trade.

Set the trade difficulty at least to hard so the AI wouldn't agree to such a bad deal. Wouldn't do it if I was playing the AI team. And I wouldn't do it if I were you for the sake of realism.
