Any way to remove players, repopulate with new players?
I created a game based on the Major Leagues, and saved a quick start of the game so that, if I wanted to go back and try again, I wouldn't have to re-do all the damn stadiums and logos and whatnot.
Now that I'm reloading, I'm hoping that there's an easy way to get a completely new set of players for this quick save. Help? |

you can easily delete all players and fill it with ficionals.
Logos, jerseys, ballscaps all will work with every new MLB league you decide to make, it's just the first time setting it up that takes some work otherwise after that you shouldn't have to every again. Could just randomly rename everyone to that way you won't really know who is who, run am inaugural draft, now you have no idea who is who |

Go into your league setup and click the Functions button. There will be an option to delete all players. There is also an option to fill the league with fictional players or create fictional players and schedule an inaugural draft.

Yes, but then you have to remember to go in and delete all the free agents. There's some busy work involved. And don't forget the minors. It's amazing that OOTP still can't repopulate teams at startup with a mouse click. This would prove especially useful when replaying your favorite Quickstart without the same old palookas.

1. Go to league setup, functions, Release all players. 2. Go to FA screen, delete all FA's. 3. Go to league setup, fill teams with fictional players. 4. Repeat #3 for minors Done |

As for remembering, it's why you started the quickstart was to get new players, even at my age (approaching 60) I don't have that bad a short term memory. I'm surprised no one has demanded that Markus make the game voice controlled so they don't have to click a mouse at all. ![]() Last edited by DCG12; 05-03-2012 at 06:51 AM. |

(you have to do it in several stages...see Bluenoser's post) You could also add a 2a.... Erase entire league History. ![]() Last edited by SMFXR01; 05-03-2012 at 06:58 AM. |

your right that's way to much work.
I'd like it if the game would just read my mind and do everything for me without my having to lift a finger. |

Thanks for this (and thanks to the OP too). The important point is #2 requires commissioner mode...which so didn't click for me, ever, until I saw this thread. Thanks again, this will save a ton of work once a perfect setup has been backed up as a template or quickstart.

Thanks everyone. I should also say that this is prior to the Inaugural Draft, so none of the players have been assigned anywhere yet.
Does that change anything? |

Well, you'll have to run your draft first. I don't think it's possible to release all players when they are all in the draft pool.

Given some of the feature requests we've had lately I'm sure that one is imminent.

Lemme try again here.
I made a fictional league, made to replicate MLB -- same teams, same stadiums, same logos, just different players, coaches, managers, and owners. Roughly the same financials. I went through and edited EVERYTHING prior to the draft. It takes a good hour or so to go through and edit logos, coordinates, stadium names and images (I play all of my games out live). Prior to beginning the opening draft, I saved a quickstart, hoping I'd be able to use that as the basis for any further attempts at MLB-like fictional leagues. How can I start over with the same quickstart so that I don't have to redo all of the edits? I tried doing a new fictional league, which gets me the new players, but I'd have to redo all of the darn edits again. |

What I do instead of creating a quickstart is this. I create the league, do all the edits, add the logos, colors and uniforms, etc. I get the league to how I want it to be. Prior to advancing this league and prior to the inaugural draft I simply save the .lg file as .sav.
I then will copy the .sav file to .lg and start my league with the copy. If I want to start over I just simply delete the old .lg file or save it somewhere else on the drive and re-copy the .sav file to .lg. Prior to the inaugural draft I go into league setup and randomize the players. I have been able to restart my league 15 times with the same setup without having to do the work of logos, unis and such. |

Okay, so I was doing a convoluted, difficult version of the easy way. Thanks.

Kind of what was mentioned above. Here is my method:
1. Create a custom game, set up your leagues how you like, etc. 2. Start that game. 3. Do not play the game at all. Just do all the work you have to do. After you have done all your work (logos, uniforms, hats) IMMEDIATELY SAVE, and keep that save as a backup somewhere else on your hard drive. DO NOT use the in-game backup function. Just do it yourself manually and remember where you save that backup. 4. Play and enjoy. 5. When you want to start over, start from the saved backup. Move it back into your OOTP saves folder and load it. You will have all your team names, logos, etc. but you should be back at square one, before your inaugural draft and all that. Just like the first time. But the issue is that all the same players will be in that inaugural draft class again, just like the first time you played the game. We don't want that. We want all new players. My solution: 6. The answer to this is simple. First of all go into the draft pool and select all the players and delete them. Next go into league setup. At the bottom select "functions" then "release all players / clear all rosters." Then "fill all teams with fictional players." This will generate all new players. After that click "release all players and schedule inaugural draft." Now you have your league with all your teams, logos, and whatnot..PLUS you have the benefit of an all new inaugural draft class without having to start over from scratch on a new custom game and having to redo logos, names, and all that jazz. Hope that helps. Last edited by htmlasp; 05-28-2012 at 03:18 AM. |

OOTP Menu - load/create quickstart. Whatever you named your quickstart when you saved it, will be displayed there for you to select. |

With a quickstart, all you have to do is load it. No moving of folders, no having to delete players and fill teams with fictionals because you'll get new players in your QS. |

If you are wanting a fictional version of MLB, the easiest way to do it is to start a league with the MLB setup that comes with the game. Then go in and do the steps above to get rid of the real players and fill with fictional. You will have logos, jerseys, stadiums, etc already present. You will have real owner and coaches though. Guess if that is a big deal, you will have to change those manually.
