Any league where too much history is stored will become slow and subject to crashing. Hard disk capacity doesn't matter. Your best bet is to backup the league yearly and save the dump file and or Almanac in that backup. YMMV

You can accomplish what you want by using the Almanac feature.
There is a miriad of options for what you would like saved in the Almanac. When you set it up, be sure to check each option carefully. Almanac's get quite big. This is a problem for some due to HD space, not so for others. Personally, I burn mine to a DVD after it's created, so no HD space wasted. Anyway, one of the Almanac options is to save the game logs and boxscores. This is what you would want. |

1. League history does not slow down your league while you're simming/playing games. The history is not being called up and therefore not affecting game play. It's just data sitting there waiting for someone to call it up for use. Size of league and accumulated data is what will slow your simming down. Not all accumulated data is "history". 2. Using the Almanac feature will allow you to do what you want. You can avoid using up HD space by burning them to DVD or other portable device. 3. All leagues, big or small, accumulate history over time. Whether you use the Almanac or not, there is basic historical data that is saved every year. 4. Using the Almanac does not slow your league down, no matter how many years you play it. However it does take longer to build as the years progress in your league.
