Rex Layne Ratings?
Does anyone have their category by category ratings for Rex Layne? I'm using 2.0 right now so I can't just use anyone's 2.5 version file. Just want to compare and see why my Layne is performing so poorly.
Thanks. Cap

Thanks. Much appreciated. These were almost exactly the same numbers I had and Layne was losing to mediocre pugs I was sure he'd beat. I've upped his defence a bit and he managed a draw against one of the journeymen he lost to before. Maybe I'm overestimating Layne's ability.

Layne was a tough bird with a nice stiff jab, no left hook to speak of and a hard right. He made his name off wins over Turkey Thompson, Jersey Joe Walcott, Cesar Brion and Bob Satterfield. All his wins exposed his lack of big power from the port side, but it was Marciano who was the first to really exploit it.

The below rating is the database rating. I changed him probably four years ago from a 2 or 3 to the current 6. I'm sure a ran a simulation back then, but ran another today. The average result of ten sims: 50(33)-19(8)-1 Actual: 50(34)-17(6)-3

Hi, Ice. You say you ran ten sims. Who were they against? Did you use his actual opponents? Wouldn't you need to sim each of them against their real opponents, and so on down the line? Just curious about the process.

Actual opponents if available or a male fighter with an equal rating and style if the fighter being simulated has a split CF rating. With Layne, and most fighters, only a small fraction of the opponents have ratings in the game. Those not included are assigned a rating and an equivalent fighter is located withing that rating and weight class. Also, career stages are considered. Some fighters feast on opponents from lower weight classes who are at post-prime or end.
The posted simulation is a random ten fight career simulation result. The rating was tinkered with several times before the posted result was achieved. His original rating in the game was a two or a three. I'd estimate that four years ago that I adjusted his rating to the current 6 by the process listed above. The same process has been used to rate new files and adjust many existing files. The minor change is a result of my ever changing evaluation of opponents. Most likely some of the old 0,1, and 2 rated fighters moved up and down the scale to an extent. This result: ten sims: 50(33)-19(8)-1 was achieved using the posted rating. The followup was after some tinkering. I hope this helps.

Just for fun I'll try running sims for Layne with every real opponent I have available. Might not get to it until the weekend.

Layne stopped both Joe Kahut and Turkey Thompson who I had set at Post-Prime. Either they weren't in real life, or Layne wasn't as good as I have him......? Ill have to run Joe Kahut and Thompson again. Cap

I don't look for accuracy against particular opponents - just the end result. I'd run it ten times and see what the average is. That's pretty close though - the KOs are close.

Got me thinking about Joe Kahut, so I watched a blurry video of one of his fights on Youtube. Tough little bugger. He went the distance with a prime Layne when he was most likely past his best. He got stopped a few times in his own prime, but mostly on cuts.
Anyone have the numbers on Kahut? Cap
