Minor Leagues
After the draft I have 96 players in my rookie league. I'm guessing I have to cut some. 1. How many should I cut? (Should I bring each team to 25 players?) and 2. Some pointers on what you look for when cutting players from minors.
Thanks for all your help. Great game so far! |

If I'm cutting players from the Rookie League team, first thing I look at is age. If you have guys 25+ years old on your rookie league team, they likely suck.

For me, personally, I like to keep my minor league rosters big. Maybe 30-35 since it seems that injuries are far more frequent in the minor leagues in this game.
Like an earlier post said, age is a factor. But I also look at scout/standard ratings and how versitile the player is. For example, I don't like cutting players that play multiple positions well. If anything, I like to keep them around in case a front line starter goes down or you plan on sending a regular position player up. Although it doesn't happen often, there are a few players out there who may fail as position players, but have some pitching ratings. It doesn't hurt to throw them into a few middle relief assignments and see how they do. I also look at my minor league report. If a guy has been at the same level for 2+ seasons and isn't getting a recommendation to move up, or even worse, if it says their not ready or over-matched, I tend to cut those guys. |
