Retirements

WHen do people typically retire in the game? Do people only retire when they are old age? Any other factors in retirments such as chronic injuries? I assume players dont finish contracts right?

What I have seen about players retiring, I haven't played OOTP13 long enough to notice if anything has changed....

I have never seen anyone retire out of the blue at like 30 years old if they are on a pro team. They will do it if they have been in the minors for years and have no shot at a call up.

Players will retire due to career ending injuries either a major injury or you will see them retire due to complications of a minor injury.

Some players imho retire too early, like I have had Chipper Jones retire at 38 with 2 homeruns from 500. He could have easily played another year or to, because in my sim he wasn't hampered with the injuries he has had irl

I have seen mediocre players play until 43 but like I say stars and superstars retiring way to early. Never seen anyone go until 45 or older, unless I kept going in as commissioner and doing unretire to bring them back to play.

I have had a player announce retirement before the season and I was able to bring them back with a nice extension.

Also, if a player retires and you edit them to unretire, they usually will only hang around for 1 year even if you sign them for 2.

I always wondered if a player would announce before the season that this would be his last and wondered if players retired before the season.

Nice to know that they do.

I've only seen players retire at the end of seasons or because of a major injury so it's nice to know there is some variety out there.
