Maybe her sunny personality will carry her beyond this.

Hmmm, I don't know how to feel about this.
I personally feel that Hingis was sort of overrated. A fine player, but kinda overrated. She was playing and winning for a period of time before most of the better players in the WTA, today, were on board. Yea, I guess her injuries didn't give her the chance to prove me wrong and I wish she was able to do just that. But I think she's making the right decision. |

I don't believe she was ever overrated - if anything she was underrated, especially over her last year or two. The stronger, more powerful players (particularly Capriati and the Williams sisters) got a lot of attention once they came on to the scene. Hingis won mostly because of her accuracy, consistency, and court awareness - much less exciting to the casual fan than power. If you ask me, if the Williams sisters and Capriati stopped using performance-enhancing drugs (and if Hingis was healthy, of course), Hingis would still be #1 today. Looking at Capriati, for example, a couple years ago when she made her comeback - you don't just bulk up naturally like that in such a short time ... |

I was expecting a reply from you Expos, b/c I know how much you like Hingis.
But I just feel she was overrated during her playing days. I know she was the best player in the league early in her career, but looking at the talent level at that time, it doesn't compare to the level of today. I just feel that Hingis was sort of lucky and screwed. Lucky because she played during a down time in women's tennis...compared to before her time and now Screwed because she may never get the chance to prove to me that I'm wrong b/c of injuries and such. |

Geeze, you never ceese to amaze me with the stupidity of your posts. A few years back when Capriati made her comeback, she was 22-24.. now 27, yeah it is EASY to bulk up bewteen 22 and 27 with the right training and do it 100% natural. I mean, NFL players do it ALL THE TIME. How many NFL players leave college at 22 and by 27 are monsters - sure most were big to begin with, but by 27-32 you reach your physical peak. Once Jennifer stopped the pot, she was more motivated to work out and get stronger. |
