What type of unique leagues do you plan to set up?

So with the announcement of league associations and expanded playoffs there's obviously a lot more room for creativity in terms of different types of leagues.

I'm excited thinking about the possibilities... What kinds of leagues do you guys plan to set up under the new systems?

I am thinking a lot of people will try international leagues with TRUE World Championships. I plan that as well but haven't yet decided how I will do it with the league associations.

Well from my understanding of the new playoff rules/simulation mode, I will be able to have the MLB winner finally face the winner of my Endor league in a universal World Series.

Not planning to do anything real radical. Just interested in having 4 leagues with six teams each and no interleague play. Eventually, the champion from each league will participate in a post season playoff. The overall association will unfold historically like this...

The first league will start in 1910 and the second league will start in 1936 with the two champions squaring off a few years later in a championship series. The third league will start in 1950 and the 4th league will start a few years later. After several seasons all four leagues will join in an association where the champion from each league will make the playoffs to determine a champion. Not quite sure if this will be possible with league association but hoping it will.

I am planning on doing some really intricate leagues. First, I would want to test it to see its limitations then make a hugemongous world league that will tap out all of my 10gigs of RAM.

I am going to maybe restart in 1871. Play the AA, AL, NL, Players league, Nippon League, and the other leagues.

I'll do a pseudo-NCAA style setup, with 8 leagues of varying talent and financial structures playing only intraleague (pretty much like intraconference games) games, and the top team or 2 from each league goes to a playoff between each league.

If possible I would like to have 16 leagues, each one from a different country. Maybe 100 gm regular season with all playoffs best of nine.

I'm currently working on an Australian baseball universe, which will have the national league, plus all of the state leagues. Hopefully ill get it finished in time to port over to OOTP 13 when it comes out.

I think I want to redo 1871 onward but adding minors is still going to be sticky.

The other thing I want to do is put in every playable league in the world. Associate them all and have a world wide draft and a true world series where the winners of each league would have a playoff for a world championship. Not sure how I will set it up since I am not really sure how the playoff system will work. Essentially Taiwan, Mexico, the US, Japan, and Korea would form some sort of play off system from the champions of each league.

Playoffs between league winners is going to be a real game changer.

Agreed. Certainly something I argued strongly for in the first v2006 move, but it just wasn't going to happen. IMHO, though- not to take away from the greatness of having the feature -to fully utilize it, I still believe adding the separate financial coefficient by league approaches completing the full experience.

i suppose this will help with my determining of who the best country is in my game worlds by making all the top leagues an association. Still, i'd really wish they were able to put in international tournaments...i guess theres always last year.

^You mean there's always next year. And Markus has said that a WBC-type league is planned for OOTP 14, so you would only have to wait until next year.

The Chilean Metros are made baseball!

I am a baseball and OOTP fan from Chile. As supposed, it's an "elite" sport in my country, unlike another poorer Latino countries, like Venezuela, Dominican Republic and even Cuba (with Communism and all).

I'm thinking about a system of leagues and teams based on rapid transit stations on my country, starting in 1976 with the Liga del Metro de Santiago. The starting teams are the first stations of Santiago Metro (Subway). In 1978, 3 scenarios are possible:

1) The creation of a lower division below the Liga, and the Liga is renamed Primera División del Metro de Santiago and the lower is named Segunda División del Metro de Santiago (composed of 5 teams representing the Line 1 expansion), plus a single-elimination cup like soccer's FA Cup and Copa del Rey.

2) (If the single-elimination cup between teams isn't possible)

2a) Every station but one (if odd), united in one league: the Liga

2b) Geografically-fractioned leagues (originally two)

Later, two leagues are created representing the Biovías (Concepción) and the Valparaíso Metro.

For this thread's readers: this inspired y'all making (for example) a New York City Subway-themed league/pyramid?

You've just given me a idea,a universe based on the London Undergrouund.....let's see....yes 11 major lines altogether with 270 stations(from memory)so that would be 10 or 11 major leagues in aassociation with a champions play-off....and all those evocative names....Piccadilly Circus....Fleet Street....Westminster.....Tower Hill...Elephant and Castle.....Mudchute......Swiss Cottage.....London Bridge....etc.etc......
Thanks again to a chilean superstar!!!

That's oddly intriguing. If you create the monster, consider making it available as a template or a quickstart. Even with no direct knowledge of these areas, the concept piqued my curiosity and interest.

I'd like to have 3 leagues of 10, with 1-3 making the playoffs plus 1 wildcard.

The league with the wild card would have the 3rd place team from the same league play the wild card 1 game playoff, while the 3rd place teams from the 2 other leagues would have a 1 game playoff. This gets the total to 8 teams left, with the other 6 teams getting a bye.

The next round would be 1st place and 3rd place from 2 leagues and 1st and 2nd place from 1 league. Also, the two 2nd place teams (from the leagues that still have 3 playoff teams) would meet.

The next round there would be 1 league with 2 playoff teams and these would meet. The other 2 leagues with 1 playoff contender would meet.

The final round matches the 2 teams left and these are guaranteed to be from different leagues.

I wonder if this will be possible???????
