Great writing league! If you're serious about writing and participation this is the league for you. Stop by the forum and have a look - always something new and interesting to read. Once you're in this league you'll find it hard to love another.

Been in the league since September 2009 way back when there was a writing contest to get in, and I can easily say it is the best league I have ever been in. If you get lucky enough to find a spot to get in, I would say take it as you won't regret it!

I joined the PEBA at the same time as Mikey #1 (as we lovingly call Mike of New Jersey) and I can't say enough what a fantastic community this group of guys has created! Rich, deep - at times some crazy story lines! Best of all, everyone works together for the betterment of the whole; The community means something to all and that is very much respected.
Oh... and there's some pretty good baseball going on, too! If you love to write, create visual elements, to converse on a wide array of topics, and be involved in an incredibly stable group of like minded souls, then the PEBA is for you! |

It's official: The PEBA has transitioned to OOTP 12! You can view our updated HTML reports here. And now we'd like to hear from you! There is still plenty of time to apply for a general manager opening. Our first OOTP 12 sim will be held on February 5. We will continue the progression to the start of the PEBA 2016 season, which we should reach in the second half of February. Take control of your team before then, and even if you're not ready to become a PEBA GM, register on our forums to bring your own take on our diverse interests.

The one and only online league I have and will be in. An amazing group of guys who love baseball. It is a great community that I am proud to be apart of. You will have no regrets about joining. Come and register even if you don't want to be a GM, this community runs far deeper than just OOTP.

I have a hard time believing that there's a better, more immersive, more professionally run OOTP league going than the PEBA. John goes to painstaking lengths to make sure the PEBA is second to none, and the ownership group we have is standout. While competition thrives, everyone loves to chat about topics beyond just baseball -- as my friends above have noted. Much more than just an OOTP online league, it's a lifestyle!
If anyone is looking for something more than just a run of the mill OOTP league, the PEBA should be your first and last stop.

Charleston is just a year removed from winning the Planetary Extreme Championship Our first official OOTP 12 general manager opening is one of the PEBA's most successful franchises: the Charleston Statesmen. Charleston's has finished with over 100 wins in four of its nine season and won the Dixie Division five times. The Statesmen have only failed to qualify for the postseason once, in the league's second year. Most impressive, Charleston is the only team to win the Planetary Extreme Championship twice. This is a franchise with pedigree, and thus the burden of high expectations will be placed upon their next GM. Keep the team winning and you'll rise to meet those expectations, but how to go about doing that? Only 17 players are currently under contract for the upcoming season, and owner Charles Pinckney, a well-known spendthrift, isn't keen to open his pocketbook for any big-ticket free agent acquisitions. That might dissuade one from making another title run with the current group. Ah! But what a group it is! Good luck finding a better starting rotation than that boasted by the Statesmen. Led by Mr. Golden Arm himself, Conan McCullough, and featuring one of the brightest young hurlers in the game in John Matthews, this is a staff to die for. What the current roster lacks in hitter quantity, it makes up for in quality, especially in the oufield. Frank Murphy is a beast (and just got awarded a beastly salary through arbitration), Miguel Martínes showed high promise in his first full season, and Jeff "Cajun" Williams remains "Mr. Charleston", one of two current players who have been Statesmen since the league's inaugural season. If a new GM decides that a rebuild is indeed in order, the highly ranked Charleston farm system will make the process much easier. Everyone needs pitching, and with top prospects like Elliott Johnson, Toyokazu Matsumoto, and José "The Fly Patino waiting in the wings, there's leeway to trade away some of that fabulous major league pitching talent to fill holes elsewhere in the organization. The depth of this system makes the possibilities endless. Not a bad situation for a new GM to be walking into, eh? It helps that you'll be greeted warmly in the PEBA, a league with a proud tradition of welcoming first-time online leaguers with open arms. Of course, online league vets are happily accepted, too. Don't let those demanding Charleston fans daunt you! Apply today for this plum opening. And even if you're not ready to take on a PEBA GM position, we want you to join our active community! Register at the PEBA forums and join in our wide-ranging discussions. Baseball is only a small part of what we're talking about, and you're sure to find a topic of interest. Find out what makes the PEBA forums one of the most active amongst OOTP online leagues!

Let me start by saying that I LOVE simulation baseball! Baseball is the only sport I watch in person or on television. I have traveled to several minor league parks over my lifetime. My kids experienced live major league and minor league baseball action by the time they were five years old. My wedding day was October 11th 1997 which happened to coincide with the Cleveland/Baltimore playoffs series. Every table was equipped with a TV set during the reception. It was a sight to behold and my friends and family still to this day comment on the baseball action during my wedding reception. I live ten miles from Jacobs Field where my beloved Cleveland Indians play.
In high school, I became infatuated with the wonderful world of baseball statistics. It was a good way to pass my time in “study hall.” Study hall is time supposedly for doing homework while you are still at school but I never did care too much for learning back then. Anyway, I loved to pour over the stats from Spring Training all the way to the time when I was released from school for the summer. I dabbled a little in the dice games as a kid and always enjoyed the trading cards but it wasn’t until I indulged in online fantasy baseball that my passion turned into an obsession. After a few seasons getting my feet wet with online fantasy leagues, I stumbled across Baseball Mogul in a local computer shop. I took it home and felt like it took fantasy baseball to a whole new level. In 1999 I bought Season Ticket Baseball (OOTP 4 I believe) and I absolutely loved it! I found it much better than Mogul in every way imaginable but I longed for the real competition that I had with fantasy baseball. That is when I found the OOTP Forums and the Online Community. I joined the first league that would take me (I am sorry to say I forget the league name) and stuck with them until it finally folded in 2006. I have been in many online leagues, some I left on my own accord but most have closed up shop due to lack of interest. I am currently in just three leagues and the PEBA is the one league that brings me the most pleasure. I realize that we all have different reasons for joining a league. My main reason for joining the PEBA is the community. I like the feeling I get from being a part of something bigger than myself. The online community is somewhat like a family. I have seen a few family-like squabbles but there seems to be an overall sense of belonging that transcends individual personality. We have a fine collection of owners that are dedicated to winning and passionate about their team but, there is also a fantastic sense of community that has many owners offering up trades or advice that in no way benefits themselves or their teams. It is a community in every sense of the word. PEBA is definitely a writing league and I find that the writing aspect of our league adds tremendously to my enjoyment. OOTP writing has added to my life in many ways. We have a commissioner that does not currently own a team and this is a big draw for me. John loves the league as if every team were his own. This is a huge improvement over your average league in my opinion. Stop on by and check things out. You will find that the PEBA is as close to a perfect league as you can find in the wonderful world of OOTP Online baseball Simulation! Last edited by scotto313; 02-08-2012 at 09:37 PM. |

Seeing Charleston as an available team makes me a very sad sad PEBA-ite. Those will be some big shoes to fill. I miss you already Jon!

Applications are still being accepted for the Charleston GM position. There are many excellent baseball minds here on the OOTP forums. We're looking for those special candidates who couple baseball acumen with a desire to exercise creativity. If that sounds like your cup of tea, write us!
