Fired in Mid-season
Never had this happen to me before. Was playing the game and my team owner fired me in the middle of June. I was expecting to be fired at the end of the season so this doesn't come out of no where but still. The only teams that want to hire me are the college feeder teams. Blah.
Probably will sim the rest of the season and see if any major league teams fire their GMs and go from there. Can't decide if I will stick with the league or dump it. The whole point of this league was for me to GM my Edmonton Trappers in a PCL based league. So it loses a bit of my hook if I don't run the Trappers. Granted I could create a new human GM and take over the Trappers next season (hopefully the computer GM won't screw up my team too much) but it feels wrong to do that as well. I sort of liked how my team was progressing, picked up some pretty good players but they just didn't perform and the pitching staff just kept doing badly despite the additions of some better pitchers. It's ironic since the last 2 or 3 leagues I have done they became too easy with me putting together powerhouse teams within 2 seasons. So I stacked the difficulty a bit more in this one. Set trades to hard, set up the league so that the bigger market teams had a larger advantage over the smaller market teams and Edmonton falls into the area of smaller market compared to the big PCL cities of LA, SF etc. Didn't expect that the draft would produce such average players so the best way to improve a team is through free agents (trading is not only hard but due to team budgets can't really boost a team by trading prospects for veteran talent due to salary differences so trades end up being for players with the same salary. ) and of course due to the market size difference I couldn't compete with the bigger cities for the high quality free agents. Was only given 1 and a half seasons to turn the team around. But not that unrealistic I was fired since the team finished 3rd (out of a 10 team division) before I took over and they finished 10th in my first season and dropped to 10th due to a losing streak the last few weeks with a win percentage of .367 Curious to see what the new GM will do with the team and what sort of job offers I get in the off season. Not sure if I should stay unemployed and if I should take a job with a college team to try and increase my rep to improve the offers. |

If you want to, you can go into Commish mode, give yourself the job again, and then check 'can't be fired'.
