Extension Confusion
Early in my first season I decided to offer some extensions... Aubrey Huff wanted 1 year at 9.5M, I offered him 5 at 9.5M and he wanted more cash. I revised to 5 at 10.5M, and got an email the next day agreeing to one year at 10.5M. What did I do wrong?
The very next day I got Hideki Matsui (making 335K) thanking me for his 3 year offer of 3.5M and accepting. I never made him any sort of offer, let alone for 10x his current salary. Is someone else making offers for me? How do I turn that off? |

Assuming that the options for "roster moves and transactions" is set for you, not the CPU, I do not think there is any mechanism for a player's being made a offer other than by you, so you might have found a bug.
There are other anomalies in the negotiations, too (not enough to make me complain!). For example, I have sometimes met a demand, only to be told that my offer was inadequate, and then the player repeats the same demand that I just agreed to -- on and on until he gets too annoyed and goes elsewhere. Three reasons I do not mind these seemingly irrational dealings: 1. humans are often irrational; 2. these problems are not frequent; 3. the game is just too good to be bothered by the little things. |
