What if I...

Hi Folks,
I created a fictional league with 32 teams in wich I have imported historical players and deleted all fictional players. My league starts in the year 3000. I am playing in the current era. I am in my 2nd year, don't use a draft and when a player retires I will import a replacment for him. Current roster size is about 45 per team.
My question is this...
If I goto league options-League Setup-Strategy.. right hand side of page are the league totals and modifiers. If i change the modifiers bases on balls from 1.350 to 9.35 will that lower the amount of walks throughout the league?
Also whats the total from year pull down menu do/for? I had it set at 2011. Changed it to 1980. Will this lower offensive output?
Thanks Phillsphan

No, raising the modifier will increase the number of walks in the league. And if you raise it by the number you mention, you will have a lot more walks, an unrealistic amount. The manual says:
Quote:
. . . the right column contains modifiers, with a default setting of 1.000. A value of 1.000 is equivalent to modern professional baseball level. These modifiers can be used to adjust the statistical output of your league. For example, if you want 10% more home runs, instead of adjusting the home run totals, just change the home runs modifier to 1.100.
The pull down menu will insert realistic totals from actual MLB seasons. The totals are adjusted if your season is not 162 games; for example, if you have only 81 games in a season, your totals will be about half of what is shown.

Also, if you want the game to keep importing realistic totals, choose this option (although, this may not work for you since you started your league in the year 3000 but you can still use the pull-down menu to select a year manually; for more information, see the online manual for the Strategy & Equivalencies Page):

sorry gonna piggyback here.

98 If a leagues starts in 2003 yet you set league strategy for 1973 how do you get 2004 to be 1974 and so forth it seems everytime i set it at 2003/1974 2004 becomes 2004 for both. so new players in 2003 make 76 k but new players in 2004 make 276 k

the league strategy will revert back to your current year every year every time, least i think it would, i'd suggest just trying to remember to change it back at the start of the offseason

as for the money issuse, my idea is assign fictional contracts to all players, hopfully this would only change the money they make to whatever you have it set to rather than change the length.

Other than that i don't know

Yeah, what he ^^^ said. I believe those year-by-year updating options look at each year of your game as it goes by and pulls in the settings for that year from the data files. It really is geared to setting up your game in 1973 and having it progress forward according to the calendar. A hybrid situation of 2003 strategy and 1973 finances would need to be reset manually for 2004/1974, AFAIK. Maybe not the strategy if 2003/2004 is the actual year of your game but the 1973/1974 finances, yes.
