Can't load game - getting frustated

This keeps happening over and over and I keep having to restart the replay I'm playing cuz it won't load. The error I always get is "OOTP cannot load this database because it has been created with an earlier version of OOTP. Please use the import OOTP 11" button tO import the database"

First off I never had version 11. I just bought this game and have version 12.

Secondly when I do try to load it that way. I load the world.dat file from my saved game replay then it want me to enter game name and after I name it something it keeps getting stuck on 10% loading players (game not responding) that's as far as I get. Why is it so hard to load a saved game and is there an easy way to fix this?

Tom - not sure of a fix but I'm about 99% sure your file is corrupted.

Do you have a back-up copy of your ".lg" folder anywhere?

If so, you can delete the one in the saved games folder and then replace it with the back-up.

If not, I don't think there's a lot you can do.

I will suggest in the future making a copy of the ".lg' folder on a regular basis. A bit of a pain but well worth the time.

LG Folder backups

Not a problem on that but im low on space on my computer... if i do a backup all the time after evertime i play it.. by the end of the season how big of a file are we looking at ??? several gigs? cuz i cant go too high i think i have about 3-4 gb free on my hard drive.. although i could free up some another 7 gb if needed
do you know the size of a backup file by the end of a season worth of data? ill be erasing the leagues after i play one season for the most part.. i like doing single season replays

The size of the file depends on the size of your league really.

I recommend picking up a usb stick, they're cheap and easy to use. You can get them in large sizes too.
