historical league

i set up a league starting in 1901. it was set-up to mimic history as closely as possible; stats/ratings resembling the real thing, league developments to mimic the real thing etc etc
it started at first automatically assigning new rookies to the teams they originally signed with, but I didnt want that so i disabled it. There are no free agents, which makes sense, so i guess i have to add the draft to get the new players to appear in the game right?
but when i did that it just seems to be producing fictional players.

any ideas?

Make sure you have your league set to import real players according to history. You'll find that in league setup.

haha, silly old me...

i originally had 'import historical players'. i then tried disabling that, unfortunately at the same time i tried adding the draft.
... of course i needed both enabled.

it was hard to figure out at first cause the draft enable button had a comment that said 'cannot be enabled until...' and the rest of the message didnt fit on my screen.

but thanks... i got it now.

Just a little advice. Make plenty of backups. There are so many different ways you can play historical leagues in this game now. And im only up to version 11.
