Rehab Assignments; Benefits & Length
I did a quick search and found threads regarding issues with the rehab assignment system. What I am curious about is whether there is a benefit to the rehab assignment and how long you guys generally leave them on the assignment. Should I promote them when they start dominating? After a set period of time?

It all involves the rust factor. If you send someone to rehab in the minors then when he comes back he will pitch better then if you put him right back on your active roster, after an injury.
I usually only use rehab assignments for injuries that lasted long then 70+ days. It also depends on when it happened in the season, if its close to the playoffs then I don't put him on rehab because I need them for the playoffs. The time they spend in rehab is already set and can't be changed. I think its 15 days for hitters and 30 days for pitchers. You can't promote them until that time is up and once the time is up you have to promote them. |

Actually, you can recall you players from rehab assignments any time you like before their maximum allotted rehab time is up. Maximum rehab time is 20 days for hitters and 30 days for pitchers, but there is no minimum time. How long you leave a player on rehab depends on a variety of factors:

I understand I can recall them anytime I want before maximum allotted time is up. I was just curious if the rehab assignment really works or if its there for the realistic factor.
I've got a guy, Carlos Beltran, who has a very good 2 games at AAA after his rehab assignment is up. I could use him. Just curious how I would tell he is ready. Might just promote him now. |

Bring him up..
I know with pitchers, I've had a horrible time bringing them right to the MLB club without some rehab time. |

What is the indicator you use before bringing them up? Solid stats or just a couple starts? My biggest thing is that in real life they would talk to the player and make a decision on how they felt and things like that. It would be nice to have something in the game where you get an email saying the player feels they are at full strength or something on their player page.

Longer injuries tend to cause more rust, so a longer rehab assignment makes sense. The minimum injury length that causes rust is 14 days according to a prior post from Markus.
