newbie | reading stats ...
Hi, complete newbie to both baseball and OOTP12!
I saw my first baseball games earlier this year during a business trip to the US, in which I saw the Cubs, the Phillies and the Blue Jays on my travels. Needless to say, I am now completely hooked on the game! I bought OOTP12 the other day so I can get even more involved - I've started a training game as the Orioles! Now, I live in Holland which means that football - soccer to you - is my main sport. In terms of sport management simulation games I play a lot of Football Manager which, like OOTP12, is very much based on understanding how the various stats and attributes fit together and how you use them to very quickly see the strengths and weaknesses of a player or team; after years of playing, like a pilot looking at the dials and gauges in front of him, I can 'read' a player by looking at this numbers. From having read a lot of blogs and wiki pages I think I'm slowly understanding what the various baseball stats mean *individually*, but what I am missing is what they mean *collectively*. In other words (and here comes the question!): in the abscence of any knowledge of the real players, which stats and attributes should I look at to tell me how good a player is in a certain position or which stats will help me to decide which of the several First, Second or Third Basemen etc I have on my roster are good, and which I should get rid of? Can someone point me in the right direction? Many thanks! |

Not a small question, there is a post here where someone broke down their views position by position. I will try to find it and link it. It may take me a little while.
