Generic ratings..
I have every baseball pc sim out there, or most anyway.
All I play is mostly 60's to 80's short series or a draft now and then that I usually don't finish. I am playing the demo ver. I see the ratings on fielding are purely generic. IE- Ralph Garr in 1971 had 15 assists because his noodle arm everyone ran on him giving him tons of opportunities to throw out runners. He has a 19 arm Tough to get the feel when the play by play sez Garr has a rocket! Now I think a few other sims do the same thing (generic).. one of the older board games that have pc ver would not give Garr CLOSE to a rating like just because of his assists. He is a +2 (bad) in this games 1971 season for arm.. Wondering if "modern" seasons would ever be updated to accurately reflect the talents of the players? Or I suppose I could change them? |

How could this be done using algorithms to figure out which player had a good and bad arm? Especially the older guys. Hard to see how something like that could be fixed without actually seeing every player play and updating their ratings one by one. All historical play ratings are built off statistics. There just isn't any other way to do it unless you take the time to rate a single player at a time.
