Fa $$

I will post this q here too...it's more of a newbie q.

I'm in my first offseason; looks like nobody is spending on FAs. I'm using real rosters, w/ an expanded team. I got pujols to sign for 20% less than he was asking after only a week on the market. I don't have a winning org or anything to make me where he'd want to go....tells me nobody else offered him good $$. He's the best player in the league and he quickly settled for the 15th best salary....it doesn't make sense.

My questions are:
1. How do I adjust league-wide financials so budgets increase and teams spend more? what do you recommend
2. I see that I can adjust the avg superstar contract upwards in the setup, do you recommend that?
3. How do I view the offers being made by other teams?
4. What else if anyhting do you recommend?

Did you get your questions answered?

If not here's my suggestions:

1. How do I adjust league-wide financials so budgets increase and teams spend more? what do you recommend

Remove or increase the "Maximum Cash" in the league financials screen. Allow teams "full budget control". In my experience most teams increase their budgets based on winning games and attendance and Fan Interest.

2. I see that I can adjust the avg superstar contract upwards in the setup, do you recommend that?

Yes you can do that. I did not. But that would definitely increase the "typical" salary of those types of players. I would recommend adjusting all the fields not just superstars.

3. How do I view the offers being made by other teams?

You can't. You can see who the other teams are offering contracts to and whether the player "likes" those offers, but you will not see any numbers regarding salaries. If you offer a player a contract he will occasionally say something like "I like your offer but XYZ team is offering more money / longer contract". Still you will not see actual numbers.

4. What else if anything do you recommend?

Play out a few years. The league financials are kind of wonky the first year or two. Once the teams settle in their respective budgets you will see a better, more realistic spread of contracts and salaries. If you got Puljos for cheap consider it a "new league gift" I now have run many seasons and have players making $20, $25 even $30 mil per season.

I have done none of the things suggested because I felt the league salaries were just find and would balance themselves out in a few years, which is what happened.
Good luck!
