Suicide squeeze

I have had two instances of laying down bunts on squeeze plays where the play has been at the plate and the runner has been safe. The batter has therefore reached first safely also. I thought that he should be credited with a hit yet he is still being credited with a sacrifice despite no outs occuring. Any thoughts/ideas/explanations anyone?

It is still a sacrifice, the batter's intention was to sacrifice himself to get the run across. It is like a fielder's choice that doesn't count against you.

Thatg's exactly how it's scored -- sacrifice hit, rbi, and a fielder's choice. (The fielder could have chosen to take the out at first but instead tried for the out at the plate.) The hitter is safe on the fielder's choice part of the play scoring.

Under what conditions did you decide to do a suicide bunt?? The reason I ask is that I have never had a successful suicide bunt and finally quit trying. But I would like to try if I thought I had a chance of success.

Fast runner on 3rd, good bunter at the plate, low hold rating on the pitcher and pray.

I've pulled of 2 suicide bunts, but have failed once. I have also stolen home with a player, and failed once. I like taking risks sometimes just to see the outcome. usually only do it with a fast runner at 3rd and a good bunter batting.
