wild pitches
I have played 5 games and its ridiculous that amount of passed balls & wild pitches 2 per game is anybody else having this issue. Also while I'm complaining why doesn't the runner score from second with 2 outs doesn't make any sense.

I agree (and have previously posted) that runners do not score frequently enough from second base. The issue is somewhat clouded by the fact that sometimes you get the choice to try to score and sometimes there is not decision to be made. However, just the percentage of time that the runner holds up with no decision offered seems to be to be far too high a frequency... And, as you say, this seems even less realistic when there are two outs.

As someone above me said, you can control the number of Wild Pitches in your league with a modifier in the "Strategy" section of the "League Options and Rules." It may be that yours got set too high somehow.
As far as runners not scoring from second with two outs, I have noticed this as well. I even made a thread when I had a fast runner (Chone Figgins) get thrown out at the plate when he was trying to score from second after he had been running on the pitch (3-2 count, 2 outs). However, it's one thing to say that it seems that runners aren't scoring enough with two outs, but it's another to back this up with actual data. Do runners on 2nd with two outs score with less frequency in OOTP than they do in real life MLB? This is not an easy question to answer. You could probably find some MLB data if you dig around on the Internet, but getting OOTP data would be quite tedious. You'd have to sift through hundreds of game logs and/or take careful notes as you are playing out your games. |
