RLPA Reboot: Historical League looking for 3
Full League Name (Initials): RLPA Reboot

RLPA is in it's 6th year simming after starting with a group of associates brought together at Baseball Think Factory. Our website and forum is located at www.rlpa.org RLPA Reboot is a new historical league based on the model of our highly successful RLPA Classic league. The Reboot will start with the 1985 and contain all 26 real-life teams. Each owner will select a franchise and then we will draft existing players to fill those squads. The drafts will be done in two phases: existing players and then minor league players. We do not use managers, personnel or scouting. I've redone all the player hitting, pitching and fielding ratings to make sure that they are realistic. We have not altered the game-generated personality or injury ratings. Also, the league will have the normal average rating of 100 for talent changes, so it is possible that players will have the normal type of career changes, like Cal Ripken might fall apart and that Floyd Rayford will become a star. Going forward, I plan on creating draft pools for each yearly amateur draft that includes the real players that were drafted each year. These draft pools are slated to include real players even if they didn't make the major leagues. So, even though Grady Hall (the #20 pick in the first round of 1986) never made the majors he might still become a good player, while it's also possible, of course, that Kent Mercker (another left handed starter taken in the first round that year) might crap out. Our finances will not be historically accurate. Our tradition (through 30 simmed years of RLPA) has been to have a soft-cap set at $80 million dollars and this will be what we use for the 1985 league also. Each player has been given approximately his correct amount of real-life major league playing time going into 1985, so Tim Raines (1981 debut) will be earning an arbitration salary and Joe Carter will make the minimum because he debuted in 1984. Every team's finances will start out the same and all markets will remain the same size, so there is not inherent advantage to being in New York as opposed to Cincinnati. You can take a look at our website at www.RLPA.org We think that you will really enjoy our community. You might also consider taking one the existing available teams in our long-running hybrid fictional league, RLPA Classic. You can see our forum post on those openings at http://www.ootpdevelopments.com/boar...ml#post2952077 Hope to hear from you or see you on the RLPA forums, Anthony Giacalone giacalone.anthony@gmail.com Designated Guy-in-Charge-for-Now |

We have two of the openings filled (Pittsburgh and one other team).
However, we still have two openings, from two of the three following teams: Chicago White Sox, San Diego Padres or San Francisco Giants. Check us out. You won't regret it. |

Just looking for one owner, someone who would like to take over the San Francisco Giants.
Email me or send a request in-game with your name, experience and the team name -- San Francisco Giants. Aside from recruiting, we do all our business on the forum at rlpa.org. |

. . . three teams available again.
Hi all,
The RLPA has three openings again, as a couple of our newer owners bailed. We are now in the middle of the 1991 season. The available teams are all from the National League East and all three teams are currently within three games of .500. None are more than 3.5 games out of the wild card lead. They are the Chicago Cubs. The Cubs are a promising young team with Jeff Bagwell, Chipper Jones and Tommy Glavine, not to mention Tony Gwynn. The Pittsburgh Pirates feature Barry Bonds, Andy Van Slyke, closer Doug Jones and a young prospect in Jim Thome. The New York Mets have Rickey Henderson, Will Clark, Jose Canseco and prospects Erik Hanson, Robb Nen and Ben McDonald. The RLPA Reboot is an off-shoot of the nearly ancient old original RLPA, founded in 2005. I take a great deal of pride in the composition of our draft classes (we are preparing for the start of the 1991 draft which will start after the Thanksgiving weekend, which is another reason to take a team now). The guys in the league are tremendous, with great participation and an affinity for trading. If you are interested (and you should be), it's a much better idea to contact me via email at giacalone.anthony@gmail.com rather than through the OOTP message center. Hope to see you soon! Thanks, Anthony Giacalone RLPA Reboot Commissioner |

Let me update on the league openings (as I've tried to clear out some inactive owners).
New York Mets (Home Page) -- Won the NL East in 1991 (and 1989), but projected to go 68-94 in 1992 after having financial troubles; #6 minor league system (including Robb Nen, Rus Springer, Richard Hidalgo), but no first round pick in 1992 because of financial trouble. I think that they can still compete in 1992 but they could use someone to find some minor league contracts to fill holes and probably trade off some left-handed hitting. Oakland Athletics (Home Page) -- Trying to reach .500 after losing 110 games in each of 1988-1990; #4 minor league system (including Manny Ramiriez, Shane Reynolds, Miguel Batista). It's a tough division with perennial powerhouses in Seattle and Kansas City, plus good teams having down years in Minnesota and California. They are still not a terribly good team with older vets (George Brett, Wally Backman, Lance Parrish) temporarily holding down several spots as they wait for Albert Belle, Mike Mussina, and the farm to produce. Pittsburgh Pirates (Home Page) -- losers of 90+games every year except 1987; #14 farm system (Magglio Ordonez, Mark Clark). Bucs are actually on the cusp of competing, I think. Their bullpen is very good and their rotation could be decent now and better in the future. Lacking depth because they've been rudderless for a bit, but they could have an excellent offense (Barry Bonds, Tim Raines, Andre Dawson, Paul O'Neill and a very young Jim Thome), but help from the farm system is not expected until 1994. Detroit Tigers (Home Page) -- Have been .500 over the last two years (163-161) but 4th and 5th in the AL East; #3 farm system (Carlos Delgado, Wilson Alvarez). A solid offense that leans to the left-side (Delgado, Jim Edmonds, Warren Newsom) with Ryne Sandberg, Barry Larkin and an aging Jack Clark. Good bullpen (Randy Myers, Roger McDowell and Roberto Hernandez) but a weak rotation. More offensive help on the horizon but lacking a really good pitching prospect over than Alvarez. The San Francisco Giants (Home Page) have won 100+ games each of the last two years but have the #19 farm system (Trevor Hoffman) and will struggle to stay in first due to salary constraints. Still they are good, if aging team lead by a rotation of Dave Stieb, Jamie Moyer, Scott Garrelts and Dennis Eckersley and a solid bullpen. They have two of the league's better players in B.J. Surhoff and Bobby Rose, but lack depth. The Minnesota Twins (Home Page) have won 90+ games every year since 1985, but won their division just twice in their period due to a very tough division. Plus they have some financial constraints and their farm system is just #22 (Sterling Hitchcock, Pat Hentgen, Kirk Rueter). Still, Mark Grace is reigning MVP, Tommy Gregg is one of the better OPS guys in the league, Ken Hrbek is a good slugger and they have the best pitcher in the league in Greg Maddux. Their farm should produce three solid rotation starters but their hitting prospects are very, very thin. Please let me know at giacalone.anthony@gmail.com if any of these teams interest you. |

Hi guys,
After having only a couple of openings over the last several seasons, RLPAReboot suddenly has several vacancies, due to our pending transition to OOTP 13. So, if you are looking for an American League team, you can choose from one AL East team (defending champions, Milwaukee) or several AL West teams, all of whom are playing right around .500 this season (California, Minnesota, Oakland and the Chicago White Sox). In the National League, you could take Pittsburgh (a playoff team last season and over .500 this ear) or one of two rebuilding teams (Montreal or Philadelphia). In the NL East, San Francisco, another .500 team is available. As you can see, the RLPA is a tremendous league with a rich history dating back to 2005. We still have nearly ten owners from our original complement, which we think is a testament to our league. We are looking for some great owners who wish to join our tradition and take it forward into OOTP 13. Please feel free to contact me at giacalone.anthony@gmail.com or via private message. I'm happy to answer any questions. - Anthony Giacalone Commissioner, RLPA Reboot Commissioner, Antiquity League |

Seconding the awesomeness of the RLPA
I'll agree with Anthony - it's an extremely well-run league with a glorious history since our inaugural player draft in 2004, and even if I weren't into hyperbole I'd still be encouraging talented owners people to come on by and check it out. It's refreshing managing the boom and bust cycles over several seasons, and not worrying if the league will still be there while you're rebuilding. It's not going anywhere! We just need a few people who enjoy real fake baseball.

The Pirates, Angels and Athletics have been scooped up.
But we still have the following teams available: Milwaukee, Minnesota, Chicago White Sox (just drafted Bartolo Colon), Montreal (just drafted Vlad Guerrero), Philadelphia, and San Francisco. |
