my problems remain
65 Dodgers problems continue. Koufax blows a 4 run lead in the last inning again (no he was not tired), and then in his next start he gets hammered in the first two innings by the lowly Cubs, Perranoski blows another save, and Johnny Podres remains injured even though we are in the second half of the season now. I am sorry to admit that for the first time I am losing interest in this game. Good thing there are no competitors at this time for the iphone or ipad. For those who think I cannot manage my team I am using the starting lineup that the computer sets up for each game. Yet the Dodgers are in third place and if they fall behind by 4 or more runs then the game is over...there is no chance that they can come back.

Do you follow or have any interest in seasons closer to the present? I'm just curious if this is a Koufax thing (so to speak), or a Dodgers things, or just basically if you would have a similar reaction to simming with a team that is not the 65 Dodgers. I know I used to get really wrapped around the axle over various sims and their ability (or inability) to do a decent 1980 season replay, especially with the 1980 Astros team.
I found solace in simming with fictional teams where I had no burden of recreating an idea of a perfect past season performance. Maybe you should try another season (especially with the 30 new historical seasons that will be released in the next week or two) or a pure fictional league to see how that feels to you. |

Fwiw, Mariano Rivera just got tagged for 5 er in the top of the 9th vs TB. He came in up 4-1 bases loaded one out and got crushed. Un-mariano like, but possible.

1. first of all the 65 Dodgers are not "my" team. Of the available seasons the 65 season was the one which appealed to me. it is not just a Koufax thing but 65 was his best season ever and he was the best of all pitchers that year.
2. In terms of Mariano blowing a lead, yes it is possible but if it happened numerous times you would no doubt have a problem with that. My point is that the game does not seem to be realistic in my experience so far. It does however how entertainment value and I have certainly gotten my $5 worth so I am not angry, just disappointed in the results I have experienced so far. 3. Johnny Podres, my number 4 starter, was injured after being in only 4 games. his injury was for 2 months. The Dodgers have played 90 games and he is still listed as injured. Seriously has hurt the team as they have no other starter, not even in the minors. |

If I remember correctly, you disabled injuries? If so, have you re-enabled them and tested whether or not his injury status starts to resolve itself? In the meantime, have you tried going with a four-man rotation? Supernovae |

My main question would be is it a recurring problem? Not in the same season, but this isn't all from one playthrough of the '65 season is it? If so, I would think it might be an aberration. I've had seasons where some highly rated guys simply couldn't do their jobs at all. My all star CF went from a .364 avg one season, to a .243 the next season, then bounced back to a more career normal .336 the following season. I'm assuming you've run through the season multiple times and this is a pattern and not just a one off?

No problem. Log into iOOTP and locate Podres' player card. Once you have his Contract/Status screen loaded press and hold the home button and hit the top power/sleep button. The screen will flash momentarily. Once you see the screen flash then you can let go of the home button. To confirm that you have a screen capture, access your Photo Gallery and it should be the last one in camera roll. To transfer it to a PC (assuming you have a PC and not a Mac) then just plug your device into your computer with the USB cable. From My Computer you should have a new icon that says "UserName's iPhone/iPod" and it should open directly into your Photo Gallery. Just copy the photo to your desktop and use the "Additional Options" in the forum (when replying or creating a new post) and click Manage Attachments and upload the photo. Let me know if that helps. Or you can use Tapatalk app to access the boards and post directly from your iPhone. I thinks it $1.99 though.

yea
cool!!! it worked. thanks. now if we could only make Podres well. I have tried to enable injuries again and it still did not make him well. so I disabled injuries again. hard to play when your team only has 3 starting pitchers.

You need to go to the Contract/Status screen for Podres and see what his injury length is. Take that shot and post if you still can.

found it
found the contract status page for Podres. says he is injured for 2 days. hope that is correct. it sure has been much, much longer than the 2 months it said when he got hurt.

What I would recommend is, with injuries disabled, sim or play for one week and re-check his injury status. If he heals then I'm glad it worked! If not, then re-enable injuries and sim/play one more week. At that point check his injury status and pray that it worked. If that doesn't work then I'd probably either trade for a low-end starter with high stamina or trade for a middle reliever with high stamina to tank every fourth game. Giving yourself a chance to win at least 3 out of every 4 games. Supernovae |

good news
Podres finally got well and I took him off the disabled list. Sent Bill Singer back to the minors. the 65 Dodgers still suck though
I really thought it would be fun playing with them but they are awful. 3rd place and 9 games out of first. Just lost two in a row to the first place Reds and blew a 3 run lead (which they rarely get) in the second game. Koufax and Drysdale both got lit up by the Reds. To show you how bad the Dodgers are, in a recent stretch they got 1 earned run in one game, 2 unearned runs in a 13 inning game, and shut out completely in the third game. lost all 3 games to the Braves. Cannot imagine how they won the championship in 65.
