Looking for Set-up Help - Historical Newb!

I was hoping to get some input/info on setting-up an historical MLB league with a fictional side league. A preemptive thanks for any help offered!

What I want to do:

I plan to start the fictional league in 1933, but want to run an historical MLB league side-by-side. I want the complete MLB history up to that point.

Moving forward from 1933, I want the MLB league to have realistic financials, real transactions, player movement, and stats. I don't plan on playing or controlling the MLB league in any way. I will only use it to "pirate" players when possible.

Basically, which historical settings should I include/not include and what should I set them at.

Thanks again for any help!

EDIT - I did get some answers from this thread, but would still appreciate any additional opinions!

If you "pirate" players from the majors, real transactions/player movement would not be usable.

Makes sense! What if I wait until free agency in the MLB league?

Also, would I have to change settings to make free agency happen? I have played fictional leagues, but haven't really changed those types of features. Mostly because I knew there wasn't a great/easy way to model the reserve clause era as there is now.

Thanks again!

I guess, to answer my own question, this is an "alternate-reality" world I am creating, so real transaction/player movement probably isn't that important.
