Can someone please tell me where i put mod files now?

I'm brand new to the game, first version I've ever played and I have no clue what to do with the mods, can someone explain it to me or direct me to a thread that explains it, preferably in the simplest terms possible.

I've played football manger for years and that is really simple to add logos etc to but this add ons central thing has me confused.
