Suggestions for New Folks (options etc.)

This has been discussed, but after going thru 9 pages trying to find each instance of 'suggestions' is getting too anal, even for me.

Can vets of this serious help us new folks with suggestions and hints etc. and list this here in posts?

Much appreciated!

Gee, I forgot how dense or cute folks could be.

Anyway here's some 'hints', look at the forum title then try and take that and run with it

Actually, the default settings are set such that the majority of people should not have to fudge with them much.

If there is something specific you want to do that is out of the ordinary, then we can help with that, but we have to know what it is that you want to accomplish.

Thanks for the information. I will just look around. I remember a thread I couldn't find about turn this or that option off to just get the 'basics' of the engine and such. I'm probably just being too anal. I have been playing iOOTP and thank goodness that gives me some familiarity to build on. This game is sooo amazing, and filled with sooo many things, it can be overwhelming at first. But like anything, just gotta dive in

But it's good to know the default settings is at a 'moderate' level of complexity. That's good to know. Thanks again. (oh, in case your a Mac person, you wouldn't have to know how the 'F1' key works off a Mac keyboard would you? I've tried 'control', 'option', and 'command' keys in conjunction with my 'F1' key, but no go. (or just using 'F1' by itself.)

The most common ways to start are 2011, a historical season, or fictional. The ABA quick start that's included is a nice little fictional league and a good place to play around and experiment with.

Thanks! I'll look for this. When you say, '...2011...', what exactly do you mean? We only have, as the most recent, 2010 rosters, right? So project those? Or...?

Thanks again.

I think you mean 42, if that's meant as a Hitchhiker's reference.
