Trading Veterans
Is this a glitch or what?
Whenever I try to trade away anyone that's considered a "veteran", the other team declares that they won't trade for overpaid veterans, no matter what the trade is. I've tried trading with teams with bigger budgets, I've tried meeting teams needs, I've tried everything. As long as a "veteran" is involved in the trade, they won't do it. As an example, I offered this deal to Boston: Oakland gives: Kevin Kouzmanoff Prince Fielder Boston gives: No-name half-a-star guy (the worst non-rookie I could find) Boston declares that they won't overpay for old veterans. It's obnoxious. I ended up just releasing Coco Crisp because, although he was unhappy and didn't want to be on the team, no team would even listen to an offer for him. Is this a glitch or just a poor system? |

Neither.
There are veterans you can trade, but if they're making money well above their AI-scouted ratings it can be near impossible. I started a game as the Royals recently and I was easily able to trade some of the guys making around $3m and below, but Farnsworth, Meche, Betancourt (and even DeJesus after he was out for 3 months and came back terrible) were impossible to dump on someone. |

That's on average and hard difficulties, though. I guess you could switch it to easy temporarily and see if that's a better system for you.

Carplos, I think he's talking about the mobile version, but you're right about being able to trade. Gene, I think you're trade is too obviously a salary dump for boston to accept

![]() I'd assume trade logic is similar between the two, though, at least.

Some guys are impossible to be traded...
But sometimes you can get it done by taken back one of the other teams veterans. Not always, but try it. Other thing that can help is the "make this deal" tab in the options of the trade window. AI comes up with a list of your better players, so it's up to you to decide, if the price is too high... :-) . But how bad would it be, if you can dump every unwanted player nobody needs and perhaps get "anything in return.... for me it's realistic. Last edited by Miker G; 05-26-2011 at 01:20 AM. |

that doesn't work because the other team isn't willing to pick up the huge salaries.
one more thing OP, boston has Adrian Gonzalez, shouldn't you have tried trading fielder to a team that needs a first baseman? |

And I don't care what a teams needs are, and how obvious of a salary dump something is, no team would realistically deny Prince Fielder and Kouzmanoff for nothing if they could afford it. The Red Sox would jizz in their pants IRL at this offer. Again, it's just veteran players. I tried trading Coco Crisp to a team that was in desperate need of a CF (don't remember which team), and they wouldn't take him for anything. And he was on the last year of his contract! |
