College baseball...

I'm sure this has been asked and answered, but I can't find it.

Is it possible with 11 or 12 to sim the college baseball universe? Say 200 teams with the conferences.

Tricky part would seem to be any conference tournaments at the end of the year. Also pool play in the regionals, the Super Regional round and then pool play again with 8 teams in the CWS.

1) Is this possible 2) Does such a sim exist anywhere on the market?

Thank you for your responses!

I think it would be somewhat possible based on what I've seen so far . There wouldn't be anything beyond the regular season though. You could set up each conference as a league, and then you'd likely have the ability to do a conference championship for all your conferences... but you won't be able to do regionals or super regionals or CWS.

You could, but it would require a lot of micromanagement, making one league to act as the post season then moving the teams manually between their conferences and leagues created for championships. It is possible but it seems like more work than would really worthwhile. Plus OOTP doesn't really generate players in a way that makes sense for a college league. Either they get there by draft, or are dumped into the FA pool and signed like normal. That would probably be the real killer. Just my

Note to self: Princess Kenny was really off-putting.

I guess you could have exhibition games for the CWS and stuff, but it wouldn't be seen by the game as an actual game.

I've done this before with OOTP X, but I did it on a slow computer and found it wasn't worth the time. But, if your machine has a lot of RAM...

I set it up with 200 division I teams split into two subleagues, east and west or north and south, either way. Then each subleague contained the conferences as divisions within the subleague - i.e. PAC 10, Big 10, SEC, Big East, etc. Then the CWS is a 64 team playoff, which the game can handle.

I've considered setting this up again with OOTP 11 and narrowing down to 100 biggest Div. I schools and then the 100 biggest Div. IAA schools, Div. II, and Div. III and playing out a 64 team playoff series for each of them.

The point is it's doable.

OK, working through this...

One obstacle overcome...how to maintain class years. I set league age minimum to 18 and max to 21. So, at 21, these players are 'seniors' and gone at 22.

Big question -- how to weight the schedule so that the majority of games are within division. I tried both balanced and unbalanced and wound up with games across different divisions (not within leagues though -- I divided the country up into East and West) within the league. Thoughts????

Also, how to create a second record for the team within the season (division record towards conference championship). So a team could be 30-20 overall but 16-4 in conference. 16-4 wins the conference rightfully whereas 30-20 overall might only get you 3rd place. Need some help with this...

Last issue...how to space out the schedule so that you're not playing everyday but rather 3-4 games per week. As it is, you'd need a 5 man rotation to compete, but college teams only need 3-4 good starters and they're fine.

Any comments on the above 3 issues would be GREATLY appreciated!!!! Thank you in advance.

Lastly, postseason can't be double elimination like regionals/supers/CWS...but each round of say a 64 team tourney can be best of 3...so that's still 2 losses and you're out. Works OK.

Thank you!!

There's no solution for recruiting as opposed to a draft, is there?
