Highest season score?

So, what's your best score so far? Anyone scored over 1000?

Cheers,
Markus

Is the season score going to be out of 1000 in OOTP 12 as well as in iOOTP?

What goes into the score? I finished with over 95 wins, won my division, went to the WS, and got a score under 500. Seems a little low to me.

Its the talent you start with is what gives you a higher score. The worst the talent the higher the score if you'd well. I think making money too for your owner is factored. I'm just guessing on that last part

1180 for a title of Rock Star which doesn't really make sense to me... i think i got commisioner on one of my corrupted saves, i'll upload a screenshot of my next over 1000 score if the save doesn't corrupt by the end of the season

Spending money is also counted. I have 16 players who either are making the minimum or are on arbitration years and our payroll was in the 30's. I won 93 games and made it to the championship series but lost in 5 games but still had a season score in the 770's.

I have yet to completely understand season score but I think it is mostly expectations and resources used vs actual performance.

If you use a cheap team of young kids who play above their ability then your score will be higher.

yeah, i think it's salary, not talent

when i played with alex rodriquez, while getting rid of guys like burnett and jeter, my score, despite having a better record and getting further in the playoffs, was lower than when i got rid of all three of them

that extra 26 million +marianos salary took my score from 1180 to 906, your best shot should be before before your young players are eligable for free agency

Edit: Ugh, 972, some players eligable for free agency so i guess i lost my chance for 1000

Traded my hitters away for a great rotation and fairly good bullpen

I used a 4-man rotation, but i have no idea how this might affect their careers later on
Lincenum went 30-4 with a 2.43
Jimenez went 16-2 with a 2.27
Gallardo went 26-6 with a 2.38
Pineda went 21-16 with a 3.24

Maybe the balance of this game is a little skewed towards pitching, or maybe gallardo would never realistically have a 2.38 ERA.

well after arbitration, i think this is the best score i'm going to get before my save gets corrupted

Had a ridiculously good team, went 127-35 with a $190M payroll. Won the WS (duh!) and scored 1230-ish (save game corrupted last night, or I'd look). What I remember of the players I had (playing as the Phillies):

SPs
T. Lincecum
S. Strasburg
Z. Grenke
R. Halliday
Cliff Lee

Bullpen wasn't anything special, but J. Soria was my closer.

Batters (in no particular line-up order):

J. Rollins ss
J. Heyward rf (who turned into a monster the following season and hit .400)
A. Pujols 1b
C. Gonzales lf
M. Wieters c
B. Zobrist 2b
E. Longoria 3b
BJ Upton cf

Backups:

C. Ruiz c
Daniel Murphy
Nick Punto

So, if it's tied to payroll or talent or wins, I had huge amounts of all three and scored really high.

How did you get such a stacked team? I'm just saying it's a bit unrealistic to have an entire team of five star players, even after trading away all your prospects

There's a lot of different ways I like to play OOTP, and one of them is to spend WAY too much time trading players around. You learn pretty quick who's fast and loose with their players -- usually because they're over their budget (*cough*Orioles*cough*) -- and who's way under-budget willing to take on salary you're looking to dump (*cough*Tigers*cough*). And sometimes, the AI is just plain stupid:

3B Jack Cust
MR Joba Chamberlain
(and some low-level scrub infield prospect)
for SP Tim Lincecum.

I kid you not.

Whenever Apple gets off their butts and get the update live, maybe I'll try to build something like this again and document all of the trades.

Also, there is one caveat: I turned off injuries, mainly because I got tired of losing (on average) 2 SP and 2 line-up players to season-ending injuries by the end of May.

And: I didn't get rid of all my prospects to accomplish that -- I still had Mike Trout. :-P

Angels fan? I like you. Anyways, I prefer to play these games as a semi-realistic simulation, but to each his own.

Another tip for those who trade, if you are playing with a big budget team, picking up an overpaid veteran from a tram like the nationals or giants (zito) puts greater weight on your side of the trade, only if you can afford it though.

My highest is 848. (this was with the Mariners whose GM was just hoping to make it to .500. They made it to the play-offs, and I got,' Manager of the Year'.)

I hit 941 two days ago with the team I have listed above. It is a fictional league so no point in posting player names. We are two years beyond the season listed above and won our first championship. The season immediately after the one listed above was a disappointment in a strong division and we won 83 games and failed to make the playoffs. Payroll was 37 million but our season score was still in the 710s.
This past season our payroll was 45 million and we won 99 games and did not lose a single playoff game.
I choose a small market team and budget is only 60 million so I am going to have to start making some hard choices.

My highest score was 839.

In that year I went 93-69 and won the WS.

My lowest score was -122.

In that year, I went 71-91 27 GB and finished 4th.

I'm playing in a fictional league, and my most recent season (2033) was my best so far. My score was 1358, courtesy of a record of 134-28 and a "Round 3" (World Series) victory. Our budget was $180m.
