Is this possible?
I've only used a fictional league before so I'm wondering if this is possible...
When I get OOTP12 I'd like to start a historical league (1985?) but change a few of the actual MLB franchises, perhaps 1 in each league, to represent my high school and college. As such, I'd like to establish new locations, colors, uniforms, logos, weather/climate conditions, ballparks, etc. for the teams that I replace. Also, I want to make sure that these are not changed or overwritten by the program as time goes on...yet still allow for alterations for the rest of the league in accordance with what actually happened in MLB. Any comments, hints, suggestions or instructions would be greatly appreciated. |

I was just thinking about this scenerio last night. In my current game I am playing as the Expos and I was curious if there was a way I could make it so that they never leave Montreal to Washington when that time comes.

This doesn't seem like it would correct this issue. I've played a historical league since 1945 and I'm in 1972 now. If I wanted everything (structure and team names/locations) to stay exactly how they are now, but still run a "historical" league in the sense of the players being imported each year, how would I do that? The game automatically expands the league/changes teams/locations after the season ends for the following year. Is there a checkbox somewhere I need to unclick so it doesn't change anything after each season (but still imports historical players for the ammy draft)? |

well for Montreal not to move to washington u would have to uncheck the box for league evolution or teams move forgot which...but if he's creating a fictional teams with real teams that shouldnt be an issue.
Also I think there s away to change teh historical ID and not have the team move but not sure on that 1. |

Still not certain if I have the full answer...
I want to allow for the entrance of expansion teams, changes in MLB rules, etc. but don't want the program to change my uniforms, build a new stadium or re-locate my new team. If, for example, I replace the Montreal Expos (I'll follow along with a previous post) with a new team called the "K.C. Sunshine Bands", can I keep them from moving to Washington, changing uniforms, logo, ballpark, etc? If so, would this action also necessarily prevent all other historical MLB changes? Would it be safer to select an organization that does not re-locate such as the Dodgers rather than the Expos? Finally, when I enter my new team, am I actually replacing the MLB team? or am I simply editing that franchise to fit my new "Sunshine Bands" theme? |

So we can't just change the name (edit the existing team)...we would need to replace the franchise with a new one, correct?

by deleting Montreal and adding Delgado the AI (since i choose not to be GM this time) signed most of the released Montreal players.
Hmm i am at my wits end now I got replaced again. only option is to turn off the option in Advanced mode for League Expansion til u get to 2005 preseason. which i can test if u want me to but i know it wont bring in Washington, i just dont know what it will do with my delgado franchise. |

After they become Washington you can go in and edit the name back to Montreal.

I appreciate all the input. However, my point wasn't originally about Montreal, I was just using that as an example because someone else brought it up. I'll probably replace some other team just to avoid the hassle.
The issue really is that, regardless of what team I choose to replace, I don't want the program to change ANYTHING (uniforms, stadium, etc.) for my franchise as time moves along...but I do want everything else about the league to be subject to historical alterations as the years pass in the MLB. For instance, if I were to replace the Astros with my made-up franchise, I don't want the program to update my uniforms every time the Astros would have done...or move to a new stadium when the Astros did. Please let me know if you have any additional thoughts or suggestions! |

The way around this is to basically delete the hitorical team ID and historical franchise ID tags. The game uses these tags and matches them with the new years league alignment. Since the game has nothing to match against the database, it won't change anything on this team.

If I understand that correctly ...
There would be no chance to take over the Brooklyn Dodgers in a historical league sometime early in the 20th century and keep them until today, without them ever moving to LA ?? |
