Career Ending Injury

About 15 games into my Oakland franchise, Ryan Sweeney has gone down with a career ending shoulder injury. When I view his player screen, it says "career ending" under injury status. When I recieved the email notifying me of the nature of his injury, it said, there were hopes that Sweeney would be able to over come the injury, leading me to believe, maybe he will rehab during the off-season and try to comeback. On his player screen it also has him listed as a "back-up". I don't know what it said prior to his injury, but he played as a starter for me. My question is this, what do I do with him now that his career is supposedly over? I put him on the 60 day dl and will continue to do so thru the end of the season. Can he come back from the injury and maybe be just a back-up or is he for sure done? Should I release him? Thanks for any feedback.

The bold is exactly what you should do, and the game will retire him at the end of the season if not sooner.

If it says "career ending" under injury status, he's really done. There's no hope, sadly.

You COULD release him, but you're on the hook for his entire salary in future years as well. When he retires, you won't be. You said you already put him on the 60-day DL, there's nothing else you should do.

I hate CEI's. I created Josh Gibson for my ABF in 2001. He was the only contender vs 6 time Wilbur Duggleby for MVP. In july of 2003 Gibson had a CEI. he is now my AA mgr.

I have been hit with the injury bug quite frequently already in the season, as have other teams. I was slightly shocked when I saw career ending, but its ok, just more adversity I have to overcome. I'm a MLB the Show and Baseball Mogul transplany and never had it happen there. First time for everything though. It sucks cause he was doing well.

I had it happen to Ryan Braun the first season I started a game with the Brewers. It sucks but it's part of the challenge of the game.
