OOTP 10 Price
Why is OOTP 10 $40 on eLicense's site? It is the same price as 11, I don't remember this being the case previously. Any thoughts?

Perfectly normal. Sales of older versions are low with no possibility of market growth. Discounting moribund titles makes no sense

Not sure I agree. With OOTP 11 and 10 at the same price, there's no reason for anyone to purchase 10 and thus no revenue is generated by the title at all. If the price were cut by 25 or, better, 50%, that version might appeal to folks who want to try a fairly recent version of OOTP without spending the full price. I'd also probably opt to charge five or ten bucks for an older version like 8 instead of making it a giveaway, but that's just me.

It's poor marketing to give consumers an easy way to avoid your new or active titles. Especially now in the lead up to a new version.

By the way, if the company really does make almost zero profit on discounted titles, Markus may want to reconsider the discount periods that seem to have become regular events at all-star and World Series time. They surely must impact the revenue realized from each new version. I know personally I'm not pre-ordering v12, but will wait and see what people have to say once the inevitable series of patches appear. I can pretty much count on picking the game up at a discount later on if I feel the need for it. |
