Injuries
I am new to the game, I used to play MLB Front Office Manager and I have to say OOTP 11 is much much better.
I have tried a couple different solo games, and ever time I try to sim through games instead of manage them tons of my players get injured in the first couple of weeks. Now I understand that injuries are part of the game but this is just way to much. My first season I was the Yankees(just wanted to play with a dream payroll before I started for real). I simmed through April and I ended up around 6-16 with Robinson Cano out for 9 months, Mariano Rivera out for 6 months, Mark Texiera out for 5 months, then Pettitte and Phil Hughes out for 1 month each. That was just the first month of the season. I tried again with the Twins and ended up with Mauer out for 3 months, Hudson out for 6 months, and two of my pitchers out for the year. Is anyone else having problems with crazy injuries? What can I do to make it more realistic. |

Hey twinsfan, welcome to the game and to the boards.
Listen, do yourself a favor and adjust the injury frequency to "Low" (it's in OOTP, Game Setup, Global Setup). The designers and some members of our community insist that "High" is realistic for modern day baseball, as they wave their statistics around. I am not in a position to argue with them. However, in a game this complicated and labor-intensive, that level of injury frequency is not going to be enjoyable. I even find "Normal" to be too disruptive and time-consuming with managing disabled lists, lineups, and rotations. I prefer "Low" and I can tell you that you still get a fair amount of injuries each season. The playing field is still even, so to speak, since it's the same rate for all teams. If it's less than "modern-day realistic," well hooray for that! I also believe there should be a lot more complete games pitched in baseball, too!
