Will a player accept demotion to minors?
How can I tell if a player will or will not accept a demotion to the minors? It seems that just becuase a player has "Minor League Option" years left does not mean he will accept a demotion.
I ask because I would sometimes like to sign free agents, but only if they will accept the demotion. Free agents dont have the symbol that denotes if they would accept the demotion. Thanks .. |

If the player has five or more years of Major League Service, he can refuse the assignment to the minor leagues, regardless of how many option years he may have remaining.
While the length of MLS needed for this right of refusal cannot be customized, you can turn off the ability to refuse minor league assignments in the Rules settings for that league. Underneath the "Minor League Option Years" there is a checkbox beside the line, "Disable right to refuse minor league assignment." Putting a check in that box will remove the right for players to refuse a minor league assignment. |

It would be nice to have that issue negotiable for FA.
