All-Star selection question
I apologize if this is somewhat off-topic for this board, but I'm trying to figure out what to do with a player in regards to determining whether or not he should be an All-Star in a given year in my league.
The player I refer to was in the National League, having an All-Star-caliber season for a last-place team, until he was traded to the American League. The trade took place before the All-Star Game, about three weeks before the All-Star teams were to be announced. Were he not traded, he undoubtedly would have been the lone All-Star representative from his NL team.
So my question is this: In regards to the real-world All-Star Game selection process, would this player be eligible for the ASG with his new American League team while taking into consideration his NL stats? I know when a player is traded prior to the ASG within the same league, they're still eligible with their new team (see Cliff Lee from this year, for example). But I can't recall off the top of my head any instance when a player was traded to the other league in this circumstance.
Any help would be great. Thanks.
