Adding teams and players
I am playing a game with fictional teams and historical players. Owners drafted their favorite players of all time, any era. They choose the year they want when they import the player and he starts to age at that point. The trick is to choose a player right before he peaks so his best years are "still in front of him." For example if you choose Babe Ruth, you'd choose say 1920 for the start year as opposed to 1932, so he starts out as twenty year old and not a 40 year old player.
We started the game in year 2006, because that was the first year we started playing. The import automatically adjusts the players' birthdays so when Babe Ruth is imported, he's in his twenties instead of being 104 years old. At the end of the season, we import more choices into the free agent pool. so owners choose their favorite players. Now some owners will go for old timers, but some folks want to new stars of today... say Josh Hamilton or Joey Votto, etc. However when these players are imported, the computer brings their current year's stats with them. This creates an issue... we played 2006 and 2007 seasons, then for 2008, some owners chose players like Josh Hamilton. However, once the season starts, the leaderboards are all screwed up... because Josh Hamilton's real 2008 stats are mixed up with his fictional 2008 stats. We just finished the first ten games of the 2008 season and the leaderboard says Josh Hamiltpn has 135 RBI's. What am I doing wrong? This didn't happen with previous imports. For example Ryan Howards's and other current stars' 2008 stats are not showing up in the leaderboards. What import settings should I use to get the current stars' stats to display correctly? |
