Couple noob questions...

Can I purchase 2.5 as a standalone program, or do I need to have part 2 first and then update to 2.5?

Are there any beginner guides to this program?

When people say they do database updates in the "official" universe and other things in "another" universe, what are they referring to?

Thanks

Welcome!

I think they're talking about a couple of things. When you open the sim, you can check if there are any updated or new fighter ratings & download them. And people run more than one universe so they keep things separate & only may choose to update one or some of their universes. Hope this helped.

Couple more questions if you guys don't mind

After a bout, what's the difference between clicking "rematch" and "score cards"? Both, when mouse cursor is on it, state "Fight this bout once more"

Also, I was under the impression I could run 100(or another number) simulations between the same two fighters quickly, is that so?

And lastly, if I click "update fighter records" will that impact anything? Will fighters start aging, etc etc

no such thing as a noob (unless you are playing online games and do stupid stuff in it) score cards takes you to the scorecard rematch means just that rematch. You can run as many simulations as you want though I don't recommend going about 99 plus its unnecessary. Update fighter records is a critical part to this game as far as aging goes. Each time a fighter fights he gains experience (or in the latter stages of his career loses) . The universal standard is a beginning fighter fights 5-7 bouts then he goes to pre prime which then his skills usually but not always goes up. It will continue to go up until he hits prime and then after that he slips into post prime and end and then hes done. I have had fighters fight 37 times for them to hit the end stage and 57 are still in prime while 67 are post prime. The break down is like this.

For a boxer to reach pre prime he/she will need to fight 5 to 7 times them they go to pre prime. To go to prime a boxer generally has 10-20 fights and after 10-20 more fights they go to post prime and 10-20 more to hit the end of their career and (for me) 6-12 more fights ends their career. These numbers can easily be changed in the options section and is useful for dynasty leagues that can be found at the inside the ropes section on here.

What I would suggest for brand new users into the game is run all default settings and use the official database (real fighters for the most part) and then pick a division you know well (typically its the heavyweights for fights like Ali-Frazier) and turn off the aging and let everyone fight at the peak of their skills. So you can get a flow for the game and so on. Then after that add on some fighters with the RFG (random fight generator) and then start them at beginner and let them age in fights so you can see how aging works. Then you can have your own universe with your rules and what not. Chris Conn has a great fictional setup and I think I am the first to use a hybrid style of boxing and roidball (baseball) meaning in say the Heavyweights I have four organizations and those four are broken down to title fighters (unified) contenders prospects and free agents (typically called tomato cans in here) each one of those sections fight amongst each other (prospect vs prospect) and after 4-8 fights in a "year" (I have the unified title fighters fight 4 times a year 6 for prospects and contenders and 8 for free agents) I look at the rankings of each division and move the fighters up or down as the rankings dictate (the top 3 in each organization fights for the title). Then at the end of each year I have a special draft where the team with the title holder drafts first out of the prospects (or Olympics every four years) then the worst average rankings (in the top 3) will draft second and so on. Say a WBC fighter has the title then the WBC gets first choice on who they want in the WBC. Then say the WBO has for their top 3 a 7th ranked fighter an 11th and a 21st for a total of 39 divided by three for 13. Then say the IBF has a 3, 4 and 9 and the WBA has a 1, 6 and 12 well then the IBF will draft last because they have the better average than the other three and the WBA will draft 3rd. This makes for some competitive bouts in the future and the rankings can determine if a team gets someone the caliber of Mike Tyson or someone the caliber of Billy Wells. Just because a team gets first pick it doesn't always mean success. Its a little work but I am able to sim all five of my divisions and rearrange the rankings and draft into one day if I put my mind into it.

But like I said get used to the game first see how everything works and trainers, judges, refs DO make a difference, then go to inside the ropes for more ideas to improve the game.

Update fighters records means the results will be saved if you save everything when you exit the game.

If you want to run 100 in a quick time click on the scheduler, set up the fighters and then change the number of runs from 1. It blasts out 100 in seconds.

Umm, if I update the fighters' section by having the trainer chosen for them, so i don't have to change it from 'generic trainer' everytime I set up a match....will updating from the pool erase everything?

What exactly does 'updating from the pool' erase?

If you update from the pool inside of a saved game it wipes out all of your changes. I learned that the hard way. There are constantly changes going on, I make a lot of my own. What I do is update on the first screen every so often and then start a new uni and just go in and look for new fighters. It's easy enough to save and download them into your universe.

How do I put the fighter's pictures up?

I want to do it manually, find the pics I want, maybe use some posted here...

Also, save and download fighters from the updated pool individually (if that's what you meant), how do I do this?

I don't use pictures.

Click the fighters box and then on the right hand side menu there is an export. Just click that to your desktop or documents and then go to the other game and import it from the same menu.

Hey Manrae

To get pictures for fighters into the game you need to save them in the 'Images' folder outside of the game.

Here are the 'folders tree' in Windows where you should find the 'Images' folder.
(NOTE: I'm not familar with Windows 9 but once finding the 'My Documents' equivalent it should follow the below file structure)

Windows XP:
C:\Documents and Settings\(your login)\My Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Title Bout Championship Boxing 2.5\Images\Fighters

Windows VISTA:
C:\Users\(your login)\Documents\Out of the Park Developments\Title Bout Championship Boxing 2.5\Images\Fighters

Fighters photos must be saved as .jpg or .bmp from memory
(I know those two formats work, .png may also.)

Photos must also be 140x140 pixels in size so you will need to crop your own photos to that size if you use them.
(Photos posted here on the forum should be ready to go and just need to be saved in the 'Images' folder.)

Lastly how you name the photos is important. It needs to be "fighterslastname_fightersfirstname.jpg(or.bmp )".
Using Mike Tyson as an example he would be saved as "tyson_mike.jpg"
See attachment also.

Long standing TBCB gamer and forum member 'Cubedrum' has a nice compilation of photos for download here...
The All New Ultimate Title Bout Championship Boxing Photo Archive

Plus this is the thread to find fighter photos uploaded by other board members here...

You may also find this site of use which is kindly hosted by another outstanding forum member and TBCB user "CONN CHRIS"
(While there have a read of his excellent 'Royal Explorers Club TBCB Universe)

Hope this helps and adds to your enjoyment of TBCB 2.5

Do retired fighters (Joe Louis, Ali, etc) not get ranked?

I've simmed 20 bouts with Ali, yet he's not ranked with any organization, why is that?

Is there anyway to have "retired" guys ranked?

Go into options, there is a box that is checked to rank only active fighters. Uncheck it and you're good to go.

If I were to sim a lower weight boxer against a higher weight...example, Bernard Hopkins vs Muhammad Ali

Should I check or uncheck the "adjust for weight differences" box for realism? What exactly does that mean "adjust for weight differences"?

This may sound stupid, but if I want to use a different version (weight/prime) of a fighter, do I have to switch it to default every time? No way to do it from the "Fight" screen?

Adjust weght differences I believe will adjust a fighters ratings,

as for the use default you just select it once on the fighter screen and that is the rating that will be used for his fights.

If you want to change their career stage you have to use the menu on the right and do a mass edit to adjust the rating

About the patches, are they to be applied now, or were the patches for an ealier version of the game?

The version on mine says 2.5.25, but I was wondering if the patches were to be applied or were already applied for new downloaders/purchasers such as myself.

I've only had the game a month now

Wow, I've never used that patch. I still have my fighters going all out for KO half the fight. But where do you copy and paste it? When I clicked on the first link there it was a download of the game.
