Pitchers being skipped over in rotation

Having a new problem with OOTP11..

For some reason, certain pitchers are being skipped over in the rotation. For Example...

I'm at the 4th game of the season with Boston vs. the Yankees. For some reason, it skipped over the # 4 starters on both teams and started the #5 starters.

I've also noticed that it tries to start pitchers two days in a row on rare instances? What gives here? I am in control of all the teams, strict order is selected for all teams and there are no injury factors for any of the involved players. Also, there are no spot starters listed in any of the rotations. Anyone know what's up ???

The times that I've seen this happen its always caused by the same thing -- '7-day lineups' are set to Yes, rather than no, and those lineups are blank.

Solutions, if this is the cause: make sure 7-day lineups are set to no, and make sure your rotation is set to 'strict order'. Alternately, set 7-day lineups to Yes and then make sure the rotation there is the way you want it.

Hope that makes sense, and hope that's the problem.

To the OP are you simming or playing out games? My comments only apply to simming.

Yes, putting the pitchers in the 7 day lineup causes all sorts of problems unless you check the stuff mentioned above. I don't see why the pitching page cannot be the controlling element for the rotation.

If you use 7 day lineups and sim multiple days at a time, you must beware of injuries, DL warnings or minor league roster warnings that kick you out of a sim after the games are played but before the day advances. After taking care of the roster moves you must do the following in order.
  1. Finish day.
  2. Go to 7 day lineups and auto fill.
If you don't do this your pitching rotation may get screwed up.

The 7 day lineups were what was doing it. I didn't even think of that.

I've been playing version 9 for the past few years and the SP's were never in the 7 days. Thanks!!!!

When I use seven day lineups, I ALWAYS leave the pitchers blank. The game seems to then correctly use the rotation.

this has happened

to me with the starters set to "strict, on occasion highest rested". That seems to work out to be "sit the ace if he's even a bit tired even when you are in a big series with your rival".
