First overall draft pick
At one point in my exploration of the game, I thought I saw a page which listed the first overall draft pick of each season, so you could go back and track their progress. Maybe I imagined this, because I haven't been able to find it again despite searching through the help files and every report I can find. I know there is a draft history for individual teams but I was looking for something league-wide where I could see how the top picks of each season panned out.

I don't know of any page like this. Just the team history page as you noted.

Go in history, league, select the year and you will see a draft option. All the players drafted this year will be there (I'm not sure if the unsigned players are listed also).
