Reworked DB for 1871

I have just reworked the brand new Gambo/Spritze DB for 1871. I followed the suggestions baseballman gave for 1810.

Here is what I did.
1. Delete all teams 1872 to 1901
2. Paste teams from Lahman's DB in team file from 1872 to 1901
3. Added missing 1871 NA teams. Left the game default AL teams.
4. Changed all NA to NL and AA to AL
5. filled in null where Lahman team data was blank. GS DB files had this.
6. Mass changed NA and AA to NL and AL in batting, batting 2, pitching, and fielding files.

So far it works for 1871. I left the AL teams so the program doesn't freak on loading. Deleted a NL team that did not exist as well so you have 8 NA and 4 AL teams.

Instructions

1. download GS DB latest version on Padres Fan site.
2. Create historical 1871 game.
3. Set options
4. Start
5. Go to league setup
a. move Cleveland Forest Citys to NL
b. move Philadelphia Athletics to NL
c. delete Brooklyn Athletics, St. Louis Brown Stockings, and Baltimore Canaries (didn't exist in 1871 so if you don't hold a draft it doesn't affect free agent pool).

6. In commissionaire mode edit free agents. This DB puts so guys in early. They all have no position ratings. Hopefully recalc will fix that at the right time but some can be starting pitchers. This might be needed so switch position to starting pitcher for these guys, filter pitchers to see them.

7. import schedule. Note you will have to change the structure in the file SL1_D1_T0_SL2_D1_T9 for schedule to import.

I am willing to share this but the zip file seems to big to attach. Does anyone know a safe place I can upload the files. I will be working on schedules to go with this.

Some of OOTP's default team/league rules are
1. Must have TWO (2) Leagues
2. Must have even number of teams in each league.

As most will know, the rules are only for initial setup. As long as you have a schedule you can do almost anything except add a third subleague once you start.

When I did some work on the DB I left the 1871 somewhat as is. You have to have 2 leagues at start with an even number of teams. However, once you create the game the game has no problem with an empty AL. I think just leaving the AL empty is the way to do it. I have seen reports of COD when adding a subleague.

The problem is the game does not like abbreviations other than NL or AL. So your national association has to have the abbreviation of NL and the AA must be the AL. You don't have to add the AA if you do not want too. In 1901 the AL teams will import. Also note the AA did fold and teams moved to the NL so you will get AA teams in the game as they move to the NL.

I am not sure if it was a glitch or something I did but I was having some problems with rookies importing correctly with the gambo/spritze latest version so I did the same process for vanilla and it seems to be working. I am just now starting the NL years.

Also note because the game does not like abbreviations other than AL or NL if you want the UA and the PL you will have to manually import the players and put them on teams or put them in the NL or AL.
