Historical player development?

Historical player development?
I imported a handful of 1980 players into a 2004 historical league. Why would none of the 1980 player ratings change for 2005? Shouldn't the 1980 player ratings advance to 1981, 82, 83, etc for each year of play?

I have talent change randomness at 100 and player development on.

There seems to be some confusion here, but I'm not exactly sure what it is. If you imported Babe Ruth into your 2004 league, in what way would you expect his ratings to "change"? Unless, of course, you would want the game to reflect his true age in 2004. But maybe I'm not getting your question.

A player's ratings fluctuate throughout their career: some good years, some not so good. If I bring the 1927 Babe Ruth into a 2004 league, he should perform according to his 1927 ratings (adjusted for 2004 norms).

Then what happens in 2005? Does Ruth advance to his 1928 ratings? Die? Or just sit with his 1927 ratings?

I'd prefer he progress year-by-year, no matter what league and what time he's playing in.

Well, if you use Neutralized Stats, I believe you will get the adjusted ratings you are looking for. I am not entirely certain, but I believe Babe Ruth's ratings would adjust per player development, even if you have recalc turned on. Recalc would just look to see if Ruth had any stats in 2005. Since he didn't, player development would take over.
