Hey guys,
Enlighten me on how much the ballpark dimensions effect the game. How much do the fence distances come into play? How important is the height of the outfield fences? Are the numbers you put in for "ballpark factors" the REAL determination as to if you have a "pitchers park" or a "hitters park". I'm wanting to have a home stadium that is practically impossible to hit homeruns to center (500 feet?) & left center field and downright difficult in left field (430 feet?)....then much closer fences in right field (330 feet?) but maybe high walls to still make it a challenge & provide, for example, doubles off the wall like Fenway somewhat.....anyways, looking for answers to the questions and advice on how to "create" the park. Thanks guys. The Ump |

I'm curious too, because I just started a league using the Polo grounds and during simming, it's another teams home stadium, there aren't many homers, but when I played there, homers where going out with one at 512 feet by a number 2 rated power guy. Is it infected with the same HH bug? A homer will be a homer no matter how far away the wall is?

The type of hits are determined by the ballpark factors and only the ballpark factors.
The depth of the fences are only there for descriptive purposes (i.e. they determine the length of the home runs). So if you want to have some bizzare home runs, set the Homer rating to 150; and the distance to 1000 feet and you'll regularly see 1000 foot home runs. Set the Homer rating to 50; and the distance to 180 and you'll rarely see homers (little league type settings). |
