I finally did it omg!
2017 pittsburgh pirates record 82-80
I am the best gm ever i srs. WE finally got a winning season after like 24 years man. Phew. I had to sign jason heyward to a 4 year 100 million dollar contract and now i find myself with a winning record baby. Man this feels so good. My strategy was to trade our highest paid players for draft picks and top prospects. 7 years in my league and those prospects have developed and we have finally got a winning season. Am I good or what? They said it couldnt be done. Well it has begun!!!!!! |

Nice work! I used to try different ways to rebuild my 2003 Tigers and was fairly successful doing so. Basically traded away anything of any remote value for prospects and took lumps in the first 2 or 3 seasons while the restocked minor leagues matured into major league talent. Was always good fun.
Currently in an online league as an expansion team where the climb to the top has been difficult. High water mark of 78-84 last season (the franchise's 5th) and going to open the 6th season with 4 rookies to go along with the reigning ROY and several other long term type players who will be in thier sophomore seasons. |

In my most recent season, the Pirates finished 10 games over .500...unfortunately it was only good enough for 3rd in the Central so no playoffs.

lol this scared the crap out of me...i just scored a perfect score 100 out of 100 and it says im an ootp god..first time i got this. With the pirates of course. I'm guessing to get a perfect 100 you gotta go deep in the playoffs with a crappy team.
We went 97-65 and led the mlb in wins. Just amazing. We choked out in game 6 of the second round though. lol i still cant believe i got a 100 out of 100. Never thought I would. We had the lowest payroll in baseball at 43 million. The 2nd lowest payroll was 79 million. Pretty sick. Too bad I didn't win it all but definitely got the most for my money. |

Here's hoping that it doesn't take another 7 years for a winner, though. Ugh. |

Well, the Pirates did win a division a couple of years in in one of my leagues, though I wasnt controlling them. They were 84-78 though, so it was more a matter of they sucked the least (they were the only 500+ team in the division). I think if memory serves they drafted some mutant college catcher in that first draft, who was in the majors by end of the season. (No not Bryce Harper, Ai-generated) And who in the first full season hit 25-26 HRs which helped them win the division.
