Help - Proper usage of names files
OK so as a semi veteran of the OOTP series (since v8), I am pretty familiar with the names files and it is one of the reasons I really enjoy the series.
That said, I want to gain some clarity since I always seem to have trouble with the application of the files. I have customized firstnames and names files that I have honed for years to weed out names I hate and setting of the proper ratios. I want to use these names in OOTP 11 and so I simply copied these two files into the data directory, overwriting the existing files. Is that it? Or should I delete the created names data file at the same time? I ask because in my OOTP 11 2010 MLB quickstart, I still get some of the names I do not want in the generated players. So I ask the experts; what is the true and proper procedure to make sure your game ALWAYS uses the custom firstnames and names files? Thank you. |

I don't know anything about the MLB quickstart games...never use them. I do know that after modifying your name files you have to re-import them (Game Setup screen. Says so in the manual). I didn't see that step in your OP.
