OOTP History Utility Version 2.0 ready for download!

Hey guys,

Well, it's finally finished. Expansion held me up for a long time, but I finally figured out an easy way to handle it. Here is the feature list for the new utility:

- Fixed many problems of parsing postseason boxscores. You now should get accurate postseason totals.

- Hits Allowed Leaderboard has been added.

- All-stars are back!

- Added the awards screen. This will show all of the award winners, seperated by league. There is also a spot to see your hall of famers if your league has them.

- Added postseason leaderboard, divided by year and career totals. Who becomes Mr. October in your league?

- Added team batting and pitching register. See every player that played on your team in one place.

- Added leaderboard appearances and Grey and Black Ink to the player pages. Now you can see how your star ranked against the rest of the league!

- Ability to generate either all of the HTML files or just the files affected from the last year loaded in. In other words, it won't generate the players from the 1920's if you are in the 1960's already. It cuts down on the generation time just a little bit...

- Expansion now should work properly. When expansion occurs and team numbers shuffle, it will ask the user whether the team is a new team or an existing team moving to a new city.

- Team leaderboards.

- Player notes are now stored and generated on each player detail page.

This is a major update, so you'll need to reparse all of your HTML pages again. Sorry!

You can find the download temporarily
here . If others want to host it, that would be great. I don't want to take all of their bandwidth..

Once you get the zip file, extract this over your old utility directory. If you do not previously have the utility, shame on you! You can find the install package for Version 1 here.

I'm hoping to add in CSS support real soon. If you have any other suggestions, let me know. I don't know how much time I'll have to work on it as I am starting to code for Power Play now, but I may get around to it...

Ryan

Excellent, great work. I just started a new league (now in season 4), but I have been holding on to all my html files just for this. Thanks a bunch.

Dude! If I wasn't so attached to him, I would say you could have my firstborn! As it is, you'll have to settle for my undying gratitude!

I'm off to play and import my first year of my All Japan league.

CRASH!

Well, I tried twice to see if it was a temporary glitch, but no.

Okay, starting a new league database, imports the HTML files fine, lets me put in the abbreviations no problem. When I choose to generate HTML, it goes through everything, gets to the players, then crashes near the end (possibly even at the end), the part where the player id's scroll in the window. First time was with generate all on, second time wasn't.

It hangs for a few seconds, then XP informs me that Java has crashed.

The previous version worked just fine.

Ryan,

I get the same crash as Drood, new league, abbrs are fine and crashes at some point during the players and in one case even before the first player is processed. Out of the blue the XP window asking me if I want to send this error to MS. I decline and rant to myself about why MS needs anything else. Any ideas?

512MB Ram (just about all free)

Glad it's not just me. My specs are:

P4 @2ghz
256 megs ram
A good 6 gigs or so clear on the drive
XP Home

That crash dialog REALLY bugs me in XP. Yeah... Like Microsoft really need to know why this util crashed. It claims it's to improve their products, but there's probably just a big garbage file with all the submissions in

There are one or two things that Ryan needs to work on that I pointed out last night. I tested it before he put it up, and damn, you guys are in for a treat.

Also, if any of you can't download it, let me know. It's currently on one of my sites, and I'll move it if the bandwidth gets too great (something I doubt will happen, but you never know).

Peace
John

Different Problem...

Have Java & MDAC installed as instructed, Windows ME, and get the following error while "loading teams" ...

C:\Program Files\OOTPDBUtil>java -cp ";OOTPUtil.jar" com.wollmuth.ootputility.OO
TPAccessUtility
UBA
java.lang.ArrayIndexOutOfBoundsException: 1 >= 1
at java.util.Vector.elementAt(Unknown Source)
at com.wollmuth.ootputility.OOTPDatabaseUtility.start ProcessingFile(OOTP
DatabaseUtility.java:166)
at com.wollmuth.ootputility.OOTPDatabaseUtility.run(O OTPDatabaseUtility.
java:57)

The league is an 8 team, single division configuration.

You can delete your own post.. but not your own thread (so if your post is the first one in the thread you can't delete it).. I'll merge this with the correct thread (Ryan's announcement thread right?)

I'm confused.

Does this update replace Wallman's database utility? Or is it used WITH it? If so, how?
