The MCLIC Winner is...
Well there are 3 winners actually. The Grand Prize winner was chosen but there were two other standouts that I thought deserving of some kind of prize. Others were really well thought out as well and made my selection very difficult. Anyway here goes...
In 3rd place... Muzamba for idea(post #45) A lot to like about this league idea. A LOT!! No minors is intriguing. The fact that there would be no financials makes it even more fun to see what talent you get in your territory. Prize: a 6 month Upper Deck hosting plan with fully equipped website and forums at www.allsimbaseball.com In 2nd place... Daern for idea(post #13) Although not gone into detail this one jumped off the page to me. A Civil War league. How cool is that! Prize: a 6 month Upper Deck hosting plan with fully equipped website and forums at www.allsimbaseball.com And the Grand Prize winner... Jaxxvain for idea(post #51) This idea just sounds so fun that I could not leave it alone. Lots of teams in the playoffs, March Madness, etc. Heck, and in baseball anything can happen. Prize: a one year Upper Deck hosting plan with fully equipped website and forums at www.allsimbaseball.com PLUS a licensed copy of OOTP 11 at time of release in 2010. Congratulations to you guys!! You should receive a PM from me within the next hour or so.

Thanks Fidel!!
I am honored to accept this award. I would like to thank my parents, my little league coaches, Ted Williams, Ted Williams frozen head, etc... Seriously though, I would like to begin a search for a co-commish/Simmer. I probably don't have time or hardware to sim 3 times a week, so I would like to find someone who knows how to do it, and how to setup everything online, etc. PM me here if you are interested. I am looking for experienced simmers only, with references. The league will not be starting until January at the earliest, as that is when the prize website contract will start. So at this time I am NOT looking for GMs. thanks again to Fidel! |

Those are all really great ideas. I'm impressed.
I've setup several Civil War type leagues (a Northern League and a Southern League), but never so intricate that a loss for one side hurts its finances. I didn't see this contest in time (and I'm much too lazy to put it into the proper format), but another league similar to the Civil War league is... That all of the teams in the north are rich and play in huge cathedral-like stadiums. They get a hundred thousand fans per game, and can afford to sign the free agents from either league. The southern league is poor, they play in small parks, because no one can afford to go to the games. They're lucky to get 15k per game, but they're scrappy. The teams tend to be younger and cheaper. There's no interleague play, so the World Series is a big event, featuring the rich juggernaut against the small time scrappy team. In the one I setup, the small time teams won the series a majority of the time, even though the team from the North generally had all of the highly paid super stars. Anyway, don't mean to detract from the glory of the winners. Just wanted to expand on that Civil War league idea a bit. Congrats guys!

Thank you very much, and congrats to the other winners!
I will be looking for someone to assist with website stuff, as well as writers--I will be writing a dynasty report for this league when it gets going, but I think multiple writers would be really cool. Perhaps a Northern and Southern perspective? PM me if you are interested. Again, thank you all, and I hope you will all follow the league when it starts this January!

I'd also like to extend my thanks to Fidel and congratulations to Jaxxvain and Daern. There were indeed a lot of great ideas submitted.
Like the other winners, I'm looking for outside assistance for this league. I will be accepting "applications" (i.e. posts/PMs saying you're interested) for an assistant commissioner, writers, and graphics designers to help with logos/jerseys/etc. I also want to make this a very fan-friendly endeavor, so I'll be seeking input from the OOTP community over the coming month regarding various aspects of the league. My goal is to begin the first season when the website becomes available on January 8th. However, I may set up a temporary site on my own to conduct polls, gather feedback, and give everyone a preview of the league. I'll be providing more details about my league over the next few days. In the meantime, remember to contact me if you're interested in helping out.

Just a quick update...
I'm currently attempting to set this league up, but have run into what I hope is only a minor roadblock involving the importation of real MLB players. Hopefully, I can find a way to get them in with minimal effort. Otherwise, this is gonna take an additional few weeks just to set up. ![]() Either way, I'll be posting a couple polls shortly to get people's input on how this league should be run, as well as a few setup options. I'll probably start a new thread for it in the Dynasty section, but I'll leave another post here if/when I do.

Interstate Baseball Update
Well, since I'm the third-place finisher, perhaps it's fitting that I'm the last to post an update.
![]() League setup is coming along, although I finally had to give up and enter the rosters manually. That's the biggest reason this project has been delayed for the past few weeks. (Incidentally, I have an even greater appreciation now for what the roster-makers go through. However, we really need a better way to get certain information--particularly text data, like player names--imported into the game! It's extremely frustrating that one can import almost any stat, rating, or other numeric code into OOTP, yet there's no way to get the players' names in. Markus, if you're reading, PLEASE fix this!) Anyway, I should be finished with the initial setup by this weekend and the website should be up by early next week. In the meantime, I will be posting a few polls to get feedback on how people would like to see various aspects of the league configured and run. I'll be posting updates and the first few polls over in the Dynasty section. (Since this won't be an Online League, at least at first, there won't be any accounts of it in that section of the forum.) I'll post a link here when I've opened the first poll in my Dynasty thread. From that point on, all future info about this league will be posted there. Finally, to echo my fellow winners, I'm still actively recruiting a co-commissioner(s), logo/jersey/cap/stadium designers, and story writers. Anyone who might be interested in helping out should PM me. And once again, a big thank you to Fidel for making all of this possible! It should be fun following each of the winners' leagues over the coming months. That's all for now. I should have another update for you within the next 24-48 hours.

Super-quick update, 'cuz I promised one this weekend...
League setup complete, save for a few (ultimately unnecessary to the game) details. Website should be ready for public consumption by Wednesday. And, If all goes well until then, the first sim should be a week from today! ![]() More info tonight! ![]() (P.S. Still looking for graphics help and a co-commish. PM me! Time's a-wastin' )

First off, sorry for the lack of an update, which I had promised almost 2 weeks ago.
And sorrier still for the delay. I thought I was on the home stretch once I finished the uber-tedious league setup process, but real life intervened and a veritable smorgasbord of technical snafu's followed. So, now that we've got that out of the way... I will have a MAJOR ANNOUNCEMENT concerning this project tomorrow afternoon (actually, later today my time )Look for a new thread titled "ISB Major Announcement", or something to that effect. ![]() See ya soon! |
